This is a place we’d spend more time at, if only we’d make it to Clapham more often: Metro Garden Restaurant provides eclectic dining with an quintessential alfresco experience, beautiful venue and a wonderful shabby chic that’ll draw you in in virtually no time. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the great menu, Metro Garden serving up a diverse range of modern European fare with bold Asian flavours. Homemade pizza breads, bar snacks and affordable supper club options are available at Metro Garden Clapham.
Luxurious and elegant dining in Clapham: Metro Garden show off some amazing skills when it comes
to providing you with that exclusive dining experience right at Clapham Commons. The restaurant
offers a farrago of culinary choices and has been dubbed ‘one of Clapham’s best-kept secrets.’ No
doubt, it’s the great al fresco dining overlooking Clapham Commons. Or the beautiful surroundings,
good food, great service? We cannot really pinpoint it, however we’re sure that you’ll be equally
impressed with what Metro Garden have to offer.
What about these eclectic dishes? The Metro Garden menu includes pecan and cashew crusted duck breast on creamed mash with kumquat jus or parmesan gnocchi with walnut pesto and fresh rocket. Homemade desserts include banoffee pie, white chocolate baked cheesecake and cinnamon pear and stem ginger pudding. And as the sun sets over the common, Metro comes alive. Candles flickering throughout the entire restaurant, their original church pews start to fill up with guests. The oversize comfy sofas draw you in. Metro's shabby chic interior makes you feel immediately at home. The gardens really are the jewels in the Metro crown.
Amazing night, gorgeous location, the staff we’re so polite and brilliant at serving our table! We also had a superb meal and couldn’t have asked for a better evening!
Everyone was very friendly, which was really important, as my friend was late. Delicious food. Wonderful atmosphere with candles and feel-good music. Generous portions too!
Excellent service, Beautiful food and a lovely , comfortable restaurant. They have a beautiful function room for hire. Thinking of my 40th there. Would be perfect.
Honestly, this place is just so lovely. After 5 years in London, I think I've found my regular restaurant, the atmosphere is great, it's cosy and it's just really really good. Had the scallops and black pudding for starters and it was amazing, highly recommend it. Will definitely return ... numerous times!!
Important things first the food was divine, the service was friendly and helpful, they were happy to accommodate me being gluten free and the wine was really lovely. The setting was the reason we chose this particular restaurant, it has a beautiful garden area, unfortunately it bucketed it down that day so when we arrived we had been moved to an indoor marquee area, still garden-esk and very pretty and daintily set out with bricked walls and twinkling fairy lights. But to be honest the indoor was also very chic and quaint so I wouldn't have minded being sat in there either! But for when the weather is nice the "secret" garden looks cute and spacious! One tiny tiny word of warning, not that it bothered me but might bother others, they offer bread when you sit down but it isn't free it's a £1. All in all a truly lovely evening and I would happily return!
Wonderful meal at Metro Garden, beautiful rustic setting with lovely fairy lights which made the atmosphere just perfect. The food was excellent too. We were a small hen party and quite loud but the staff left us to it topping up the prosecco when required...hopefully the others diners weren't too disturbed by us! I'd recommend this restaurant especially in the warmer weather to enjoy the garden at the back.
The food and ambience are fantastic. Great eclectic but not over the top decor. Unfortunately, we were downwind of smokers and had to move inside from the beautiful secluded feeling garden, but even in the extended part it feels like you are in a covered outdoor space. The wine list and menu are simple but fantastic in value and taste! Can't fault the service which is friendly and unobtrusive. All in all, a new place that we can't believe we haven't come across and will definitely visit again. Highly recommended.
I took my boyfriend for dinner last Friday evening and we had a great time! The food was average (main course lamb had a really sweet crumb - a little too much maple) and they had run out of a couple of wines which was a shame, but overall we were well looked after and once a few more tables arrived the atmosphere was nice too! I would recommend checking in advance if the garden has a private booking as we had hoped for pre dinner drinks out there but it was not available. Also, don't get there before 8pm on a Friday night as it will be empty!
Had a lovely dinner with a friend under the sunset in the secret garden of Clapham. I love the charm and setting so please never make it modern as this makes it a perfect setting for dinner with a friend or celebrating a special occasion. Food lovely, service very attentive and th house wine is very good. Until next time, I plan my escape to the Secret garden with friends.
One of my favourite restaurants. The waitersgave us the midweek menu by mistake (we were there on a Saturday), which had a set price on it, but the owner was good enough to honour that price, even though it should have been more. Another lovely meal there in great surroundings, with the sort of personal customer service that makes such a difference.
