Carnivores the world over know that Argentina is home to some of the best beef around, and the meat-eaters of London are increasingly drawn to Whitechapel and the Moo Cantina, where the gaucho lifestyle is alive and well. Situated on the bustling thoroughfare of Brick Lane, their specialities are lesser spotted on the streets of London – lomitos, gourmet toasted sandwiches filled with meats and cheeses, and empanadas, the Argentinian-style pasties packed with flavour.
The stature of South American food is on the up-and-up across England, and of course, London is where one can find some of the best purveyors in the country. Down on Brick Lane – usually more Bangladesh than Buenos Aires – one can find Moo Cantina, an Argentinian restaurant that offers street food and steaks to the hungry public of London. Lunchtime means lomitos, posh sandwiches, and empanadas, pasties which can be filled with beef, chicken, ham & cheese, and then either fried or baked.
There is, of course, far more to Argentinian cuisine, and at a restaurant called Moo Cantina, it would be remiss not to mention the beef options. The steaks available at their outlet on Brick Lane in Whitechapel are impressive, from the standard fillet, ribeye and sirloin options to the more traditionally South American vacio cut, taken from the flank of the cow. Order one up and settle down to some of the best beef in London – just remember to book a table first.
Food was absolutely amazing. I had sirloin and sweet potatoes fries and the meat was tender and juicy. The cocktails were delicious, my favourite was Porn Star. The service was also excellent and friendly. I will absolutely recommend it and I will have to repeat again.
Table was ready on time. Great food and service. It was fast and tasty. The look and feel is nice, very Argentinean. Will definitely come back soon!
Great steak. Cool atmosphere. Attentive staff. Approx £40 PP for food and drinks. Great place for dinner with friends or a date. We really enjoyed our evening.
Pros: Excellent location, cosy atmosphere, great design, delicious menu, friendly staff Cons: the music should be more relative to the character of the restaurant, maybe more jazzy, more ethnic and definetely less pop/dance!
Very good steak place - they waited for my mate to turn up and then knew it was him when he walked in - some sort of wizardry. Only draw back was it was a bit pricey - but that was mainly all the beers we had ... (lads). Nice decor as well ... really authentic Argentinian wallpaper and fluffy cushions.
Fantastic. Quirky little restaurant. Really nice atmosphere and vibe. Authentic Argentine cuisine. Steak ordered by what weight was something different that was a pretty decent touch. Wife is veggie lots for her to choose from. Fried Beef empanadas 😎
The food and service were excellent, a fantastic afternoon in the sunshine. Would thoroughly recommend this little gem in Brick Lane. One of our party was from Brasil and she loved it ... high praise indeed!
It was my second visit and was excellent as the first one.Friendly atmosphere and excellent meat makes you think of definitely come back again. It was perfect end of our day. Thanks for not spoiling it :-) 👍
Was a good lunch and the steak was lovely and the service was good just found it a little bit strange to get charged full price for the Parsley & garlic chips instead of an extra pound when the steak came with fries?
food is incredibly sub-par and way too expensive for what you get. meat is not cooked well. you could do so much better with the ingredients yourself. cocktails are mediocre at best. service is good and the place has a really great atamosphere, just a shame the main attraction is simply not good enough. unless they change they will not survive in london for very long at all.
