Attached to The Swingate Inn & Hotel, Namaste Indian restaurant attempts to challenge what your perception of Indian food in the UK might be. But how does it do it? Through a menu that’s genuinely authentic and representative of almost every region of India, while at the same time offering Indo-Chinese fusion food to make things even more interesting. The food at Namaste is of an exceptionally high standard with thanks to head chef Vijay Singh Guisan having spent over 17 years in the business. You’ll find this Indian restaurant on Swingate’s Deal Road – and it is very much worth a reservation and the trip from anywhere else in Dover.
The menu at Namaste is a snapshot of popular and traditional dishes from all over India, and its aim is to show diners every dimension of this world-famous cuisine. As such, the Namaste team here in Swingate encourage every diner to be adventurous and try something from the menu that they may not have done before. Whatever you order you can be absolutely assured of quality, as the Namaste team also try to use local Dover produce wherever possible to ensure Indian and Indo-Chinese flavours that are fresh and unmistakable. For someone arriving to the UK at Dover, Deal Road’s Namaste is one heck of a first impression of the country’s love for Indian food.
So, the menu... The variety of starters is pretty impressive and there are vegetarian and gluten-free options in abundance. For your main there’s a choice between north or south Indian delicacies – if you opt for south be sure to try a dosa, a regional staple consisting of crispy savoury pancakes, lentils and a potato filling infused with dry chillies and other south Indian spices. If north Indian food is more your thing (that which is most common in the UK), then you’ve got lamb, chicken, vegetable and fish curries to choose from. Almost all of them are gluten-free and can be spiced according to how much spice you can handle – fiery hot or nice and mild. As this is probably the best Indian restaurant in Swingate and Dover, reservations at Namaste are essential.
