More about the restaurant: Negril

In London but named after one of the most beautiful parts of Jamaica, Negril, we guarantee, will put a smile on your face, not least because of the splendid jerk being served up. Diners keen for spice and reggae flock to this Brixton hotspot in their numbers to enjoy simple, honest Jamaican food in one of two charming dining spaces. Go al fresco on Brixton Hill or get cosy inside, either way, the menu will wow. There’s jerk chicken chicken or fish, Caribbean curries, rice, peas and plenty of plantain. It’s hard to overstate the brilliance of the way Negril gets the simple things bang on. You have to try it now.

Thinking about making a Negril booking?

Dear diners, please be aware that reserved tables will be held for 15 minutes only. Thank you!

Negril is in Brixton but it’s straight outta Kingston. Actually, it’s named after, well, Negril, a beachy part of Jamaica that isn’t Kingston, but that opportunity seemed too good to miss. It’s been a London establishment for over 10 years and trust us when we say that Negril is as good now as it ever was. You can find it on Brixton Hill where the menu is based on traditional Caribbean spices and recipes which have kept loyal diners returning from day one. Seating is atmospheric and intimate, while the service, well, it’s some of the cheeriest in London, complete with an apt reggae backtrack.

The menu, ladies and gents, the menu. It’s exciting and colourful in a way that anything authentically Jamaican should be. Begin, perhaps, with the Negril special ackee and saltfish served with plantains, then roll up your sleeves and brace for the arrival of your main. Free range jerk chicken? Goat curry? Or some typically Rastafarian ital? Ital is a way of eating, not a dish, and in its purest form is entirely vegan. Try pumpkin curry or the homemade bean burger with avocado and spinach. With flavours and freshness like this, Negril is one of our favourite Jamaican eating spots in all of London, never mind Brixton. We’re excited for you, so reserve your tables now.
