Slow service - at least 45mins for food to arrive. One of us got steak - very overdone. Think the menu we were given was an old one as both the chicken and fish did not come like it said on the menu. Overall food was nice enough. Was very hard to get waitresses attention despite the fact they were walking around a lot - they were looking for empty plates rather than actually at you!

Very reasonable 2 courses at lunchtime for £8. First time there & really enjoyed our lunch. Quick, friendly service and good sized portions. We’ll be back !

I only gave 4 points because the waitress gave us misleading information and then the desserts were very disappointing. The starters, of 1 fishcake and 1 garlic breaded mushrooms were delicious. The mains were both steaks, and were absolutely gorgeous. The dessert menu included profiteroles but unfortunately they were filled with bakers cream, rather than fresh cream, so I ordered hot chocolate fudge cake. However that was barely warm. My guest ordered a knickerbocker glory. Which wasn't at all right. He got a glass of jelly with some fruit in it, topped off with ice cream. A lovely location with great views of the coast and sea.

Food is average and service is atrocious. I cannot see this place surviving against the other excellent eating places along the north coast. Avoid and go elsewhere

We've been many times and have always had great food. The offer of three courses for the price of the main course is great value.

Friendly but poor service. Ordered and was billed for beer I never got. Gluten free choice greatly reduced because 'it's very busy over Easter and can't be guaranteed? Otherwise food was good.

We were a little disappointed when given our menus to be told that it was the A la carte menu & not the offer menu which was available. Haven eaten at the York twice on St Patrick's weekend and on a Sunday we weren't expecting it to be any different. However the food was delicious and we were not disappointed. They are very accommodating for Gluten free diners. Looking forward to going back again soon.

I’d advise persons attending to arrive before 18:45 as you can only choose from the a la carte menu. My fiancé and I had fish dishes which were super. Unfortunately others in the party had chicken bang bang and chicken strips in breadcrumbs. Apparently very bland and unspectacular. To top it off it was served with a few little plastic pouches of hienz barbecue sauce - hardly what you’d expect for a la carte!!! Not very impressive - not like the York of old where the food was superb and excellent value for money.

Excellent lunch at amazingly low prices! Had a window seat as requested. Served by lovely girl Amy. And sooo easy to book online using my phone.... What we really appreciated was the ability to talk & laugh together without intrusive loud music. Highly recommended!

Really poor slow service, didnt really seem to be anyone in charge controlling the young servers. Drink orders that went to the wrong tables, drink orders that didnt arrive. Our lunch took 3 hrs from start to finish. Food was average. Wont be rushing back unfortunately.

Service for poor, got our starters before our drinks, and our side orders were wrong. Ordered a mojito and it was awful, the waitress advised she knew this before it was brought to the table.

We had an excellent Sunday lunch at the New York Inn yesterday, only thing stopped it scoring a 6 was the fact that our table was quite near the door and, being a cold day, every time the door opened we got a cold rush of air around us. The food and service were absolutely excellent. I mentioned to our waiter, a friendly and helpful young man, that every one of the desserts, with the exception of the ice cream which I didn't fancy because I wasn't feeling very warm, was chocolate and I must be a rare case because I don't like chocolate. That was no problem at all and he served me jam and coconut sponge instead of the chocolate sponge on offer on the menu, no fuss, nothing. The service this young waiter provided was first class and I commend him for that, it made our day!
