Eating out doesn’t get more delightfully British than at Oscar & Bentleys Ltd. a true gem of central Canterbury and where you need to be heading for a genuinely hearty fill. Housed inside one of Canterbury’s most historic buildings on Guildhall Street, the menu here consists of year-round classics as well as rotating seasonal specials. Not just that, it’s all 100% gluten-free, prepared by proper chefs with bags of passion, and you’ll find some international options, too. It’s difficult to overstate just how charming Oscar & Bentleys Ltd. is, hence Canterbury just loves it. Reserve a table ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
Great food, friendly helpful staff , great location in centre of Canterbury close to Marlowe theatre .. . . . . . . . .
Restaurant is completely gluten free. Food and staff are excellent. The new set menu is superb. They also have lactose free and vegan options. My wife is gluten free but I am not . Other than breads I would not know that it is a gluten free menu. We can recommend the onion rings and the alcohol free cocktails
Food was gorgeous and as one of our party is gluten intolerant, it was brilliant that everyone could eat anything from the menu. Highly recommended and booking was certainly essential on the day we visited. All the staff were really friendly and helpful.
Food was excellent good choice staff were brilliant, wonderful if you have food allergies everyone should try this restaurant quite quirky Could not ask for better time for the price, deserts were amazing good choice of wines
Lovely meal, as ever, at O & Bs. They coped very well with our party and they weren't over attentive which made it very relaxed. A bit too hot upstairs with the radiators on as well. This is about the only place we go out to eat now. Their cakes are gorgeous and everyone in our party said they really enjoyed their meals. The non GFs didn't realise they were eating GF food and the GFs ate with complete confidence that everything was edible for them. Fantastic.
The food was lovely, and the staff very friendly, but the restaurant was heavily booked, it being Mother’s Day, so the service was very slow. We waited an hour for our starters. We were offered a free drink to make up for the wait, which was very nice, but I do feel perhaps they need to trim back the bookings a little on special occasions.
Gorgeous Gluten free restaurant with fabulous food. So lovely to have the whole menu to choose from & no special treatment needed. as a Coeliac it felt good to be normal again. Highly recommend but make sure you book.
Food and service excellent as ever. A joy to be able to order anything off the menu knowing that it is totally gluten free! Very friendly and courteous staff. Can sometimes be a little chilly on cold days when sitting downstairs.
Having read some good reviews I booked with confident expectations of an enjoyable meal and good night out. However our visit was a real disappointment. The service was not great, orders taking some time to arrive at the table but worst of all was the poor standard of food. Both of our meals were poorly cooked and unappetising - just not what we expected. The waitress voluntarily reduced our meal by 10% when we told her of our disappointment - however we would have preferred to have paid the full price for an enjoyable meal. I would not book this restaurant agin.
Fantastic restaurant if you have gluten and dairy intolerance! What a joy to be able to order ANYTHING on the menu! Fantastic if you don’t have intolerances! Great food and nice atmosphere. Highly recommend.
