Great space and relaxed atmosphere. Looking forward to going back!

This was the second time visiting this restaurant and was just as good as the first.

Can be a little noisy and hard to get staff's attention. Food was decent

I always enjoy the food here, it's fresh and flavoursome and changes and a daily basis based on what's available and good. Staff are always attentative and friendly.

It has a nice atmosphere and the staff are good. We like the food a lot but we’re disappointed that dogs were allowed in the dining area. Yapping dogs on peoples laps in the dining area is a no no for me.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Loved the wood fire. Recommend the haddock risotto and they had a really nice special with black-eyed peas. Originally the table we'd reserved was close to the door but the waitress moved us over to a better table when one became available. Steamed rhubarb pudding was delicious.

The atmosphere is lovely very relaxed with a good mix of people...food is lovely small plates but enough. The staff are happy to help but not hanging around and intrusive. Will definately be back

Great place with great food and great atmosphere. Have drank here a few time.but never knew they did good untill now. Would recommend and happily go again.

Fantastic experience, one the best meals we’ve ever had in Liverpool. Great staff and menu choice. Extra special for me as my grandfather and great grandfather worked in that space when it was the Lang Pen Factorty. Would highly recommend.

The food was really tasty, there place was busy with a great atmosphere. We went here before going to the Everyman. The service was Good and the staff friendly.

service was brilliant, had tapas, 3 of us, far too much food as we ordered 2 plates each plus bread, best dish was the mac cheese. Could not fault the place

Great food but small portions if you're hungry! Some really nice beers on tap, all reasonably priced. Would have been nice to have better table service I.e. asked if we wanted any more drinks or desert, once the good was served, we didn't see anyone again!

The staff could not have been friendlier -great atmosphere-gorgeous food, everyone enjoyed their dishes, cooked to perfection excellent food excellent service what more could you want!

Lovely relaxing atmosphere with delicious food! One of my new favourite places! Staff laid back but attentive, such a cosy, welcoming place with a roaring log fire - perfect for this time of year!

Bit disappointed as had ran out of quite a few items off the menu, most of us where not impressed by what we got, they also had no ice cream!! Will not go back to eat there again but will go for a drink.

Food as always was excellent but service not as good as usual we were a party of four 2 meals arrived then another and we had to ask for the fourth ,also needed to get vegetables reheated by the time the final meal came.Disappointed as we took friends and it was their first experience.

Really poor menu options, unfortunately we walked out before we had chance to order. The problem being was there was no clear starter or main meal options, as if the menu had been designed by a student who had literally made something up with what was left in their fridge tuat evening. Nothing appealed to us whatsoever so we left before the waitress returned to avoid embarrassment. Apparently its a bit like tapas but not as small? At £7+ minimum per plate of what looked more like traditional British meal's it's like ordering a roast chicken dinner with beef wellington dinner and expecting it to go. Not for us unfortunately. Sorry for the bad review but I hope you use our feedback constructively, nothing personal as staff were friendly.

We got a nice reserved table. Service was good. Noise level extreme. Sourdough bread was good. It came with the weirdest veg soup I’ve ever had and my fish pie was dull and dryish.

Deliciously tasty food, great variety and lovely staff. Can particularly recommend the chicken supreme, cod loin, stuffing and horseradish greens! And the poached pear and rice pudding for dessert. Delicious.

Friendly atmosphere, great service and lovely food. Couldn’t fault anything. The staff didn’t rush us and so we felt relaxed, all the food was great but I especially enjoyed the beef wellington. Will definitely return

Where do you start when you have such a good experience? The Pen Factory was excellent; great food, first class service and a roaring fire to warm your bones. We were celebrating my graduation from university and this was the perfect venue. The small plates were varied and tasty with lots of options for veggies, vegans and meat eaters too. I had the linguine (get it!), the curry and the portobello mushrooms and loved all of them. The chocolate, peanut butter brownie was delicious. I have no problem recommending The Pen Factory they made a special night for even better. Thank you to all the team there.

A colleague and I shared a light lunch.Our food was delicious and we were served exceptionally well by Rhiannon. Thank you! I would certainly recommend a visit.

exceptionally good food. a real treat. pear and blue cheese tart had wonderful puff pastry and molten cheese. smoked haddock was subtle and fascinating. will be back.

Booked for lunch on a Friday. Enjoyed lovely food (we shared a few small plates) in a relaxed atmosphere in which we weren't hurried out. Staff were friendly and helpful. The place also has nice decor.

There was plenty to choose from on the menu, lots of interesting food. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food and as always the staff were efficient and friendly.

This is great post University Evening Class venue, say after eight. The post work and pre theatre crowd have left.Though they’ve usually cleared all the specials,the main menu dishes make a good mid week supper. You can get a table. It’s quieter which suits older ears and conversation. Curiously one or two of the early leavers leave convenient car parking spaces.

Went early evening pre concert. lIke this place. Good food, quirky, good atmosphere if a little noisy great drinks friendly service. Would recommend they seem to have a lot of repeat business which is a good sign. Plates come when they are ready which can be odd, e.g roast potatoes side came way ahead of meat, but you are told about this in advance.

We were in a group of five four of us had eaten all of our food whilst my friend was still waiting. Half an hour later when he went to ask about it he was told they could only cook two chicken breasts at once. If that was the case why is it on the menu, especially on a busy Saturday night or when it was ordered they could have said. Waitress was really nice an very apologetic and the food we had was really nice.

Excellent cafe / bar serving eclectic choice of dishes both traditional and unusual. Catering for all diets. Good selection of real ales. Good place for all ages and persuasions.
