Portofino is a picturesque fishing village on the Italian Riviera, and at New Brighton’s Portofino restaurant you can experience a little piece of it for yourself, aptly located on the Marine Promenade. Serving up Italian favourites with lots of passion, Portofino is the place to go for pizza and pasta as well as classic meat and seafood dishes. We recommend whetting your appetite with some terrina casalingo (homemade chicken liver and Brussels pate with mixed leaves, forest fruit coulis and melba toast) before moving on to one of Portofino’s speciality grill dishes like the salmone limone (salmon fillet cooked with spinach and a light lemon butter sauce served with mashed potatoes) or the calzone di polpette & chorizo (a folded pizza filled with meatballs, chorizo, mushrooms, cheese and tomato sauce). Drawing in diners from all over Liverpool to its location on Union Terrace, Portofino can get busy. Booking ahead is recommended!

Arrived slightly early so the table was not quite ready but time for a drink at the bar. Excellent meal chosen from the amazing value early bird menu where you can have 3 courses and only pay for the mains. Good attentive but discreet service. A most enjoyable evening.
For a busy Saturday night the service and food were excellent. Two soups and squid to start more than enough bread provided soup VERY hot. The main meals were also first class. There are loads of restaurants in this area we always come here pre cinema visit. BTW the film LION was also excellent!!!
Lovely food, well presented in relaxing surroundings. Early bird offer is outstanding, you just pau for your main, cannot wait until I can go again.
We had a great time at this resturant the food. service and the staff were excellant. We have eaten here before but only in the afternoons
The staff were pleasant, even though they didn't have a record of our online booking. The food was okay, sadly not out of this world, the service was very fast, maybe 5 minutes between courses, which may suit some people but we felt very rushed. We probably won't be back again, and considering Bella Italia and Prezzo are both about 50 yards away, I would of thought Portifino would try harder to impress.
Whenever I am on the Wirral I love paying a visit to this restaurant. The products are fresh the service is good and always advise well about their selection of wines. Constructive critisism is accepted well too.
The service was good, the food was served hot and tasted good.I would have no reservations on recommending the resturant to my family and friends. One point to note is that your starters are expensive
Always great food and a great service provided. Never wait long for food and great atmosphere. We have been here before and will definitely return
Had to wait as table wasn't ready even though it wasn't busy . Got my husbands sides wrong and questioned my daughters choice of pizza topping she wanted 1/2 meatball 1/2 margarita saying they don't do that when we have had it there before .
Varied menu, very good food and reasonable wine selection. Friendly, efficient team and nice atmosphere. Would not hesitate to visit again or to recommend to others.
