With three locations in Cheshire – two in Stockport and one in Congleton – Purple Pakora has successfully cemented itself as an Indian restaurant that you can trust. The Poynton branch, as at all of the outlets, uses family recipes that’ve been passed down through the ages, ensuring that diners enjoy a meal that’s unique and original. Purple Pakora on London Road serves some of the area’s finest South Asian cuisine, making it a must-visit for Stockport’s curryheads and foodies.
Serving legendary Indian cuisine known throughout Stockport, Purple Pakora on Poynton’s London Road stands out from other local Indian restaurants by offering signature dishes that can’t be found anywhere else. The Granny Style Madras, for example, is a huge hit at Purple Pakora, as is the Princess Jalfrezi, a dish of minced lamb, peas, potato and a spicy thick jalfrezi sauce. Another signature favourite is the Tina Tuna, succulent fish cooked in an onion-based sauce with spinach, garlic, herbs and ginger.
This Poynton restaurant follows the mantra that ‘the essence of food is time’ – you may have to wait a little while for your meal at Purple Pakora, but that’s because every dish is cooked fresh to order to optimise the dish’s flavours. Purple Pakora even offers European dishes like fried chicken, fish fingers, omelettes and a delectable prawn salad, all served up with chips and a salad. Vegetarian specialities here include the Bombay aloo, brinjal bhaji (aubergines), saag paneer and the aloo methi, plus plenty more. Fantastic meal, so tasty. Really enjoyed the family meal for my father’s birthday. The staff were super attentive and had a great sense of humour. Would definitely recommend and would go again.

First visit to this venue in Poynton, been to Marple previously. Excellent service and food in a very busy, for a Thursday, establishment. Will return in the near future.
Food was surperb with great service, Totally enjoyable! The staff were very friendly and the restaurant had a warm and relaxed atmosphere. I would recommend the Bombay aloo as a sundries, it was delicious.
Amazing service as soon as we walked in, when they found out it was a birthday they bought balloons over which was such a nice gesture. The staff were very attentive and polite which was brilliant. I would recommend anyone to go there!
Superb service and great food. One of those places were the variety is awesome. Will have to revisit again soon. The manager was kind enough to let us use the VIP lounge even if it was not a weekend. Great service.
Good selection of food and very tasty, including European menu too which pleased one of the members of our party. Restaurant very inviting and staff are polite and welcoming. Been a few times and service is always good.
Another good meal at the Purple Pokora in Poynton. Never fails really. Pretty busy for a Sunday evening and initial service a bit slow. Not sure if a bit short on staff on a Sunday? This didn’t detract from a good meal though as usual.
As always, good food and attentive staff. We have had a few family celebrations there and are never disappointed. Even "non-curry eating" children are well catered for - and we have never had a bad curry.
Really enjoyed our night at the purple pecora. The food was excellent and being seated at the round table made for a great atmosphere. We will certainly be making a return visit in the near future.
