The food of the Mediterranean is well-known and well-loved by the people of West Yorkshire. We’ve all been to that part of the world – whether it be Faliraki, Lloret, Magaluf or any of the other high-quality holiday destinations enjoyed by Brits – and experienced the Mediterranean diet first hand. Leeds foodies will be happy to know then, that they can have a taste of the Med in Ilkley, in the form of Quinta Bar & Grill on Wells Road, just a short walk from Ilkley station, where they can sample the delights of the region without ever leaving Yorkshire.
The Mediterranean menu is packed with fruits of the mer, and when the mer in question is the Med, you can be sure the quality is high. Lobster ravioli, piri-piri grilled prawns and grilled mackerel are just some of the options, and they are accompanied by their land-lubbing cousins in the form of crispy pork belly, chicken and tarragon mousse and a wide range of superb steaks. Quinta in Ilkley is just dipping a toe in the waters of the Med, but it continues to delight the diners of Leeds: book a table now to experience it for yourself.
Lovely atmosphere, had the tempura prawns to start which were fantastic followed by the Vension fillet from the special menu. The meat was cooked perfectly and very tender, asked to swap the roasted parsnip as I don’t like it, which was no problem at all! At the end of the meal the waiting staff brought a free shot and plate of homemade fudge for my birthday - a great finishing touch and felt very looked after throughout the night. We will definitely return!
An exceptional dining experience. The service was impeccable, not rushed. The food was exceptionally good, steak cooked to perfection. Our friends were impressed too and will visit again.
As always, a really enjoyable meal at my favourite Ilkley restaurant! My husband ordered prawns that were "exceptional", as was the rest of our food. Lovely atmosphere; always a pleasure to go there.
Delicious food, very helpful staff.....a personal service. Lovely!! Will most definitely return. Close to ilkley train station. Great location. Lots of choice on the menu - difficult to decide what to choose!
This was the 4th or 5th time we have eaten at Quinta and we were again not disappointed in anything, a warm welcome, efficient and appropriate service and lovely things to eat and drink. My sister in law was particularly impressed that her fish was done to perfection, crispy skin and succulent flesh. We all ate from the early bird menu but there was a also wide choice on the main menu and a choice of lobster specials. It was a Monday night and therefore quiet which was also a benefit as we needed space to talk, but even when busy, Quinta, with its windows at either end does not feel crowded.
A relatively quiet Tuesday evening but still a nice atmosphere with good music at just the right level. Service was very attentive as usual, not pushy, and after the meal we were untroubled as we sat and chatted for ages before finally sorting the bill. Most importantly, the food was great. It's not a massive choice on the menu but I take that to be a good sign, that the food is prepared as ordered. And the complimentary bread balls and butter are really tasty too.
A very enjoyable evening with excellent food and good service. The smoked haddock chowder was the best I have had since visiting New England many years ago. All the dishes were well-presented and dishes intended to be hot we're just that, hot... but the freshness of the ingredients so apparent. Other diners were clearly also enjoying their experience. Only very slight negative was that the background music is atmospheric but sometimes just a little too loud & having to speak louder to each other. Quinta has a good chef In its kitchen and the front of house management is also good and welcoming.
An excellent meal -Saturday dinner. My wife started with piri-piri prawns which were very good and I started with scallops which I thoroughly enjoyed. For main course I had roast cod with ratatouille and sautee potatoes and my wife had the rib-eye steak on a granite slab with chips. Both were first class. Desserts were lemon possett for me (delicious) and chocolate fondant, which I didn't get to taste as it had gone in no time. With two glasses of wine, two coffees and two bottles of water the bill came to £94, good value. Service was good.
The food is great - the menu is not as huge as in some places, but what they cook they cook really well. The service is spot on, and the restaurant has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, with some background music but not intrusive. It manages to have an intimate feeling even though it's open plan - they have not tried to cram in too many tables. Not cheap but not expensive either for the best eating.
We enjoyed our meal at Quinta. The food was excellent, however the rack of lamb, though tender was not very warm. If anything the meat portion was too large. If you want vegetables you really need to order sides as there were few with the main dish. The service was excellent and the seating arrangement comfortable. As with many restaurants in the evening, it became very noisy, making conversation a challenge - this could have been because we were sitting next to the big window with the sound bouncing back.
Brilliant lunch. We were able to mix and match the menu which was great. The sauces on all the courses I had were brilliant. However I would not choose the pineapple tart tatan. The pastry was under cooked and the tart was sat in a bowl of sauce. The sauce was brilliant but made everything soggy. Good day out though and would go again without hesitation.
A good meal. I had scallops, which were sweet, fresh and delicious, followed by smoked cod in mussel chowder which was good. My wife had hummus which was spicey and delicious, followed by a rib-eye steak served on a hot slate which was also good. With a glass of wine each, two bottles of mineral water, two coffees and a side salad the bill came to £79 which was fair value.
red pepper appetiser was very tasty, hummus a bit bland, blinis nice but very small. Owner friendly, think our server was probably his young daughter. Had pizza for main meal which were enormous and too big to eat. They forgot to add an ingredient but arrived themselves with it before we noticed. Smell of burning at one point during the night, heard various loud clashes and droppages but that might have just been because of where we were sat. Overall a pleasant evening with nice enough food.
The food portions were very small. I found out from the owner that he was using a guest chef from the Box Tree that night so maybe he thought he was producing a taster menu!! My wife had a scallop starter in Quinta 4 weeks ago and got 3 scallops on the plate. On Saturday she had one scallop cut in half!! Our guests both had sea bass with the fillet cut into 3 and it was the equivalent size of one large fish finger. Whilst there was no doubting the quality of the food we walked out still hungry and feeling a little bit cheated. I am not sure we would rush back!!
It was a busy night last Friday, but the service was as good as ever and we were not left lingering over plates. The goats cheese & beetroot is a marriage made in heaven; absolutely delicious, as was the lamb. The only problem is decisions; what to choose from the various menu options. We'll be back soon.
Very nice meal with two friends from London who were impressed. Being a winter Tuesday we were the only diners which affected the atmosphere but meant we had good attention. Food very good and we all had different things so s tried a good sample of the menu and it all arrived in timely fashion and at the right temperature. Thankyou, we shall be back.
An interesting menu, lovely food, welcoming staff, all in a pleasing environment. The lunch deal is good value. We just wish other customers wouldn't make so much noise with their booming or piercing voices. We could hardly hear each other in conversation. That's not the fault of the restaurant, I just hope the loud people read this and tone it down next time.
The restaurant was quiet as it was a Thursday in January so difficult to comment on ambience, but the maitre de was welcoming and helpful. Service was excellent and the food very, very good. There was an error over the pudding which was rapidly apologised for and the cost of it was removed from the bill unsolicited. We will return.
We went for the set lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it with a lovely glass of Portuguese red wine. We will be going back. We have been a la carte in the past and again thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Great service as well. Top marks not given simply because the sweets although nice are not of the same high quality.
The food was amazing. My sea bream was perfect. My friends ordered smoked haddock risotto and slow cooked beef. No one was disappointed. To finish we all had sticky toffee pudding, which was delicious. We took advantage of the early bird as we were going to a show.
