Surely Horsham’s finest restaurant, Restaurant Tristan on Stans Way, just off East Street in the town centre is a stunning blend of old and new, from the venue to the menu. Bursting with creativity from a young, enthusiastic team led by Tristan Mason, the contemporary cuisine produced here is unmatched by any restaurant in the area, an elite accomplishment vindicated by Restaurant Tristan’s recognition by the Michelin Guide as the only star-worthy destination in Horsham.
Dear diners, before you make a booking, please see below for important information about Restaurant Tristan.
The best of old and new come together at Restaurant Tristan, a rare gem and unique dining experience in Horsham. The first Michelin-starred restaurant in this part of West Sussex, Restaurant Tristan is housed in a gorgeous 16th-century building on Stans Way in the historic town centre, but the design is modern, meaning old timber beams and sleek furnishings create an atmosphere refreshingly casual for a fine-dining eatery. In a similar style of the old enhancing the new, brilliant chef Tristan Mason uses his classical haute-cuisine training as the foundation but lets inspiration and innovation run wild across a stunning menu of contemporary creations. Fresh, superb ingredients are the top priority so the menu changes regularly, but we can guarantee an unforgettable meal at Restaurant Tristan whatever the season.
The spring menu at Restaurant Tristan celebrates new life bursting into the garden, with exquisite dishes like suckling pig with spring greens or rhubarb soufflé with liquorice, rose and gin for dessert. Treat yourself or your loved ones to a top-class breakfast, because Tristan brings fine-dining excellence to standards like eggs benedict or home-smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Larger groups should make the most of the 6- or 8-course taste menus, matched with fine wines along the way, to appreciate the breadth of skill on show here. Housed right on Stans Way in the town centre, Restaurant Tristan is a first-class contemporary dining experience without equal in Horsham.Notes & reservation policies from Restaurant Tristan

Another fantastic meal at restaurant Tristan. This time we had the 4 course Winter Menu which was a delight of different flavours. All topped of with the usual friendly attentive service.
Amazing food, friendly and fun service. We are always made to feel extremely welcome! A fantastic experience we would highly recommend! This is THE place to eat in Horsham for that special occasion or treat.
Fabulous food, great service- the staff seem really interested in what they are serving. Extensive & interesting wine list with knowledgeable sommelier. Very consistent - this was our third visit in as many years and the standard has never dropped !
Another fabulous meal. Exquisite presentation, delicious flavours, perfectly complimented by the wine flight. Great service. A lovely atmosphere. Thank you to the whole team once again.
My husband Jon and I have visited Restaurant Tristan on numerous occasions in the past few years and note that the quality of service and the wonderful dishes served are consistently superb. In recent years, we have chosen the six course menu including wines. This offers a colourful array of flavours and some beautifully chosen wines complimenting each course. You are there for the evening in a very relaxed atmosphere, the staff are always charming to talk to, they will explain all the courses and the characteristics of each wine and you are never, never rushed. A lovely experience for those special occasions. Thank you Restaurant Tristan.
Our second visit after having a wonderful meal some time ago so always a little nervous it would not meet up with the previous visit. We need not have worried it was as good if not better than before. We visited on a Tuesday evening and the place was full, good sign it's popular. They have added a lighter 3 or 4 course for £25 or £30 which is great value but we ate from the Summer menu having looked at it for several weeks before visiting. We made sure we choose different dishes so we could both taste as much as is on offer. I really enjoyed the scallop starter, followed by the rabbit and then the suckling pig. I was thinking cheese as the last course but went for the chocolate mousse. All the flavours came through very clearly and we left feeling we had had a great evening. We live in Warwick but will be making every effort to get back and try Tristan out for his Winter menu. The service is attentive but not over the top, the wine list is extensive but not too expensive and the wine waiter only too happy to help you choose something spot on to link with the food.
The staff made us feel very welcome from the outset. Even the selection of breads was lovely. We each had one of the three lunchtime options, but they added a deliciously unexpected soup as well. Having been used to more mainstream dining, we were unprepared for the unusual combination of flavours from our chosen dishes. I had to Google what a bevette was, but a more choice piece of steak would be hard to find. Even the lager was locally sourced. Restaurant Tristan is an exceptional experience and we thank them for making our visit so understatedly but memorably enjoyable.
My first visit to Tristan in Horsham, to be honest was based on reviews and recommendation of some friends. The experience from start to finish was first class, right up there with many of the top London restaurants in terms of service, food creations and flavours. We both had the winter set 4 course menu, a lovely mix of meat and seafood prepared beautifully and carefully. Sadly I was driving so I didn't get to try the 6 course menu that comes with the selected wines, taxi for my next visit as I'm sure there has been an equal amount of care gone into selecting the right wine for each course. Really couldn't find fault with anything, the amount of food is comfortable, i didn't leave feeling stuffed, just the right feeling. Most definitely we will be returning soon.
Restaurant Tristan is a truly outstanding diming experience and OK Horsham is a nice count town, but you don’t expect to find something like Restaurant Tristan in such a location. The food is excellent, I had the four-course menu which was marvellous taste combination.
Very nice ambience, excellent service, superb flavour and presentation of every part of the 4 course dinner we had. Very busy, booking highly advised, space was almost gone when I made our booking which was early on the same day (Friday). Quandoo booking worked nicely, and reservation sent to my phone once approved by the restaurant which was only about half an hour later. If I have to criticise anything, I'd say the Bolney Rose wine was a little lacking in taste, and two and a half hours to complete four relatively small courses is nudging towards a little bit too long, but still within acceptable limits so overall it was really a cracking good night out.
