About Ristorante de Medici
More about the restaurant: Ristorante de Medici
The famous Renaissance dynasty of the House of Medici gives its name to this Italian restaurant in Durham, perched on Elvet Bridge in the northern section of The Peninsula. It’s a great place to have a meal if you’ve been exploring the historic precinct of The Bailey, with the castle and cathedral dominating the landscape, though the bold Mediterranean colour and flavour of the food is in stark contrast to this picturesque but brooding, centuries-old quarter of Durham’s town centre. House-made pate and the de Medici involtini are fantastic to start off with and the pizzas are a local favourite, but it’s signature dishes like the penne de Medici, the house steak and chicken with prawns and mushrooms in a white wine and cream sauce that really fly the flag for authentic Italian cuisine.
