As always the food was delicious and I love the 'single sitting' rule as well... There's no rushing to free up tables and get the next customers in....Once you're seated, well, you're there for as long as YOU want to be which means you can really take time to relax, enjoy a little slice of Sicily and truly savour the wonderful food, especially their homemade soups which are always packed with flavour. I do wonder if the prices need to be adjusted.... They seem far too reasonable.... £65 for 3 courses for 3 people.... Amazing value!!

This restaurant is a little gem. The food is wonderful, the service is excellent. If you would like authentic Italian/Sicilian food in an unassuming restaurant then this is the place for you. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. We were so impressed we booked for Mothers Day.

We were watmly welcomed when we arrived we had looked at the menu on line so knew what we wanted and the food was wonderful. We will definitely be going back.

Lovely, intimate restaurant with welcoming ambience. Evening meal on a Sunday, not busy. Helpful and pleasant. First visit and would go again for a relaxing meal - Everything cooked fresh so do not be in a hurry. Relax and enjoy.

Route5 is a small restaurant situated slightly out of Southend central. Food is Italian, dishes are cooked individually, so some waiting between courses but worth it. Charming place with pleasant service.

This a hidden gem.of a restaurant. Staffed and cheffed by its owners it combines simple elegance with intimacy and wonderfully authentic FRESH FRESH FRESH sicilian dishes. Very reasonably priced too 😁 😁 😁

Another great meal at this wonderful restaurant. Route 5 offers excellent 'home made' dishes, that are simply delicious. Had the whole Sea Bass today, which is baked in the oven with tomato salsa, vegetables, rosemary and garlic - what a lovely dish! Others had the pasta which is always cooked to perfection. Great place, great food at reasonable prices.

Really is Exceptional food, wonderful owners, they make you feel so welcome and are so attentive. They really treated us like family. Have never had better food or service anywhere else. Will be returning again very soon.

Fantastic freshley prepared food, service and atmosphere. Good selection of wine and beer. A small venue, so the service is exemplary and well just about as perfect as you could wish for. Our regular haunt, the by far best Italian restaraunt in the area.

This was our sixth visit to Route 5 which we love for its excellent food and warm friendly service. It is only a small restaurant in not the best position, but it is so good to see it doing well and we are always happy to recommend it to friends.
