Booked a table and had to change our booking time 20 mins before, all done with no fuss which was great. We booked the last time for the carvery but the meat & veg were still fresh and staff were happy to bring more of anything that had run out. Generous portion of meat & help yourself to vegetables all very tasty! Helpful friendly staff and bright pleasant surroundings. Would recommend and will be returning.
Fantastic food great value for money even better pint of bathems 10/10
Very well organised ,food was lovely, and a great pint of Bathams bitter, what more need I say.
Good food and friendly staff as always .Highly recommended Ace
A great visit. Will drop in again in the not too distant future.
Excellent food and drink in comfortable surroundings and pleasant staff.
The carvery was lovely, a huge range of vegetables. I would have given a 6 rating, but we waited ages for our Drinks order on a Hot day!
Good food from the carvery. My daughter had to wait so long for her vegetarian gravy that she'd eaten half of her dry veg. Why not have a small pot of veggie gravy next to the meat gravy?
Decent Choice of Vegetables but looked like they had been standing a while; had to wait ten minutes for someone to acknowledge that we needed plates to start carvery. Not Busy yet lack of communication between Kitchen and serving staff made the atmosphere a little awkward.
We were shown to our table immediately (pre booked). The buffet choice was excellent. Service for drinks was a little slow but not unacceptable. Would recommend.
great food, excellent service, nice wine and all at a fantastic price, we will be returning
Went on our 41st wedding anniversary food was absolutely amazing staff very friendly best carvary around

Good service and food was excellent plenty of choice of vegetables
A nice place to have a meal. Service was good, food (carvery) was excellent and the choice of veg outstanding, the best choice I've ever had
Very quiet considering it was half term, carvery fabulous, excellent selection of vegetables
21st birthday celebration meal for my son. Lovely food/carvery... Lots of choice... Lovely clean surroundings... Courteous efficient warming staff... Everyone enjoyed.
vegetables was still hard second time we have been and its been like this we won't be visiting again
First visit here for Sunday carvery as we were visiting wedding venue nearby with Son and future daughter in law. The Royal Oak was recommended by a friend who lives close by. Must admit I was not really looking forward to it as I am not too keen on carveries, however, I was pleasantly surprised, the food was delicious, great selection of meats and veg, served piping hot with a party of 6 everyone enjoyed the meal with no complaints whatsoever. Would certainly recommend and revisit if in the area.
Carvery was excellent. Meat succulent and tender. Choice of vegetables excellent. Puddings outrageously good.
Pleasant staff, food was lovely waiting time was not long we enjoyed our visit and will go back again
Absolutely beautiful food x value for money is brilliant service and ambience was great
Lovely food, great atmosphere will definitely eat there again, excellent service lovely restaurant
Enjoyed the carvery.... Good selections of veg & meats to choose from. Would defo go again.
Everything was excellent - as denoted by the above . This is why the 'Oak' is so well supported both by locals and folk from further afield.
Brilliant food and lovely place thank you happy customers goldstar
I had a very good Rump steak my husband had a carvery which I am sorry to say was very poor, chunks of very dry beef and the vegetables had obviously been sitting in the ban marie for a very long time.
Come on a regular basis with friends who travel up from Gloucester. Must admit today was quite disappointing. Beef definitely not up to usual standard and some veg under cooked. Parsnips raw and sprouts hard
Nothing special have had better. Meat was so rationed could hardly taste it, Good selection of vegetables ,some good some not so good Was like a green house in restaurant. Menu Stated £6.95 12 until 3 paid bill at 1.30 was charged £7.45 each.X3(did not notice till was home and the gammon was so over cooked was like cardboard. Sorry wont be returning
Great food and service. We will definitely go again. Thanks
