Opened in 2009 by Julien, a Parisian with a passion for good food and good wine, Sante Wine Bar is taking the Perth food and bar scene by storm. With a flair for the new and innovative, Sante is not your average wine bar, with an equal focus being on the food as well as the wine. A great deal of care is taken here, to ensure there is the perfect wine for every dish on their creative menu. The Spanish and French cuisines are both well-represented here, and you’ll find delicious tapas-style treats, as well as fully fledged meals so no matter if it’s after-work drinks or a special meal with friends or family, you’re certainly well catered for at this Perth institution.
If tapas is what you desire, tuck into some tiger prawns cooked in a chilli butter, roasted courgettes topped with feta cheese and tomato pulp, king scallops and Spanish pancetta, or spicy pork meatballs in a bravas sauce. For those with a heartier appetite, keep an eye out for the paella for two, with your choice of meat, fish or veggie filling, or opt for the whole grilled sea bream with jacket potato and vegetables, perfect with a glass of one of their finest whites. So do yourself a favour and pay Sante Wine Bar a visit, even if only to begin working your way through their incredible wine list. You’ll find them in the Perth city centre, just along South St John’s Place, but be sure to book in advance.
5 ladies had a lovely lunch. Some of us had main meal from blackboard and some had tapas, everything was very nice. Service was good.
Nice and relaxed, busy for in between Xmas and new year. Good house wine and great service, food was lovely and will definitely be back.
Superb food and service, fabulous evening. The staff are outstanding and really make you feel welcome. One of our favourite restaurants in Perth, we will always go there when in Perth.
Really good atmosphere, food good, service was excellent. One tip, put the Tapas dishes in oven for a few minutes, will make all the difference!
My overall experience was a good one. I went with a friend for an 'above average' night out and the food was glorious (ribeye steak) with charming service by a young waiter who made sure we had everything we wanted but was not intrusive. The only downside was a large table of young girls screaming and squealing at each other in an adjacent table, using their mobile phones constantly. I may be getting on a bit and fully understand the enthusiasm of youth (I was young once!), but I do believe when dining out a sense of decorum should be displayed. Keep the phone use limited please. Otherwise, a great place to eat for grown ups.
Still very good, but perhaps not quite as excellent as it used to be. At least with the dishes I had today. The pumpkin soup was good, but only warm when received and got cold quite quickly. The roast shoulder of lamb, again, good, but when I cook this at home it is much better and their veg was strange. It was more like leftover peelings of veg roasted to almost burnt, but then mushy at the same time. The service is always good, even when we had a lad on his first day, who didn't know very much, but he was keen and kept smiling all the same. Their wine by the glass is quite pricey. This time the only real annoying thing was the music - worse than 'elevator' music and it kept going and going and going...
Great atmosphere, excellent service and fantastic food. This is rapidly turning into my favourite restaurant in Perth. I had a lamb burger with chips. The burger was well presented and very tasty. The chips were hand cut and very good. My partner had one of the specials - swordfish - which came with a lovely looking salad. And I had a very nice alcohol free beer, I think by Estrella.
Arrived on time for our reservation, were sat at the bar for 30 mins, during which time two other parties arrived and were seated. When we enquired how long our table would be, the owner was not interested in stoping to speak with us, simply said soon as he kept walking past. Two minutes later we were seated right next to the busy kitchen. Told this to our waitress and that we were not happy, we were then asked by the manager if we wanted to move, waitress then moved us to another table that has been free for some time. Food was lovely but we were left wondering what it was about us that resulted in a poorer service than those around us appeared to be getting.
Lovely atmosphere, excellent food. They even do a 'driver's glass of wine' to keep you safely under the limit if you want to mark the occasion that way. The tapas was lovely with both the kind of things you would expect (patatas bravas, calimara, jamon iberico) and plenty that you might not. And the sweets were just delightful. A perfect Big Birthday lunch.
Great Saturday evening with friends in this lively restaurant; glad we booked as I don't think we'd have got a table. Pondered the menu then asked our waiter Julien (who turned out to be the owner) to bring us a selection of tapas, whatever he thought best. Everything was perfect. Got through some great bottles of wine as well. Can reccommend!
