More about the restaurant: Seawise

Camden Town’s Stables Market, off Chalk Farm Road, is an unexpected location for a fish restaurant, but there you have it: in among the clothes stalls, junk stores, and cybergoth boutiques is the home of seafood and fish and chips in Camden. Proprietors James and Lucy Belton bring to bear over thirty years of experience on some of the best battered fresh fish you’re likely to find in London, short of breaking the bank at a five-star restaurant. Seawise is all about serving delicious fish and seafood delicacies prepared and presented in a simple and homely English way.

Thinking about making a Seawise booking?

Time your turn off from Chalk Farm Road right, and follow your nose to North London’s best kept secret when it comes to fish and seafood. Seawise are committed to keeping things fresh at Camden Stables Market spot. They get their fish and seafood delivered daily to Camden Town from London’s Billingsgate Fish Market, including their oysters (here you can snatch a half dozen natural English bivalves for just a tenner) and their lobster (try a whole lobster tail, or add the same to Seawise’s Luxury Mediterranean Platter).

Once you’ve entered Camden Town’s Stables Market from Chalk Farm Road, finding Seawise in the labyrinth isn’t hard. They’ve got a prime spot opposite London nightspot Proud Camden (housed in the listed Horse Hospital) and it’s here that the crowds in search of this legendary North London chippie (much more than a chippe, really) flock to. Cold and hot starters, mains from the barbecue, to share, traditional British dishes, homemade burgers and sides, and regularly rotated specials (plus a nice selection of wine beer, and ale!) are, while incredible in their own right, dwarfed by the jewel in Seawise’s crown: this has to be the glorious King of the Ocean Full Works Platter, piling up a feast of natural English oysters, dressed crab, grilled scallops, whole lobster, New Zealand green lip mussels, king prawn skewers, butterfly king prawns, and whitebait. Poseidon’s turning blue-green with envy.
