More about the restaurant: Shahi Pakwaan

Shahi Pakwaan in East Finchley has been delighting Londoners since its doors opened back in 2017. It serves authentic Indian food, the likes of which you’ve probably never seen before. Specialising in dishes that are predominantly from the Hyderabad region, Shahi Pakwaan has made a big splash among foodies, winning praise for providing a fine dining experience at High Street prices. The owners care and attention to detail is apparent across the entire restaurant and you’ll find images of India cover the wall and a small statuette of the Hindu Goddess Natraj Kola sits comfortably in the corner. If you’re looking for some seriously good Indian food that’s perhaps a little different to what you’ll find in a standard curry house, then head down to Aylmer Parade in East Finchley and give Shahi Pakwaan a try, you’ll be glad that you did. Just bear in mind that space is limited so to ensure they have space it’s always best to book first.

Thinking about making a Shahi Pakwaan booking?

Restaurants like Shahi Pakwaan in East Finchley London don’t come along every day, and it’s taken a lot of hard work and dedication on the part of the owner Shoaib Ahmed and his brother Siraj. Head chef Siraj has taken the authentic flavours of his home region of Hyderabad and brought them into the modern age to create some truly innovative dishes. You can, of course, also find the familiar favourites you know and love, but once you look at Shahi Pakwaan’s menu, you might find it hard to resist the signature dishes.

The first one to try is the utterly amazing chicken 65 consisting of deep-fried crunchy battered chicken done with flavours of curry leaves, ginger, garlic and chilli. Also good is the Hyderabadi dum biriyani or the dahi sev puri of round, puffy puris topped with sev and pomegranate. Or, if meat isn’t your thing you can try the Baigan ka Salan of baby aubergine cooked in a traditional Hyderabadi style with a peanut, coconut, roast onion and sesame seed sauce. Like everything else at Shahi Pakwaan, the quality of service is out of this world and is the real cherry on top of a fantastic dining experience. For some truly fantastic authentic Indian food, make a booking and head down to Aylmer Parade in London’s East Finchley sharpish.
