About Shawarma Grill

Stratford’s Shawarma Grill has been proudly serving East London with quality halal Lebanese food for the last decade and more. Found down High Road Leyton, not far from Leyton station, Shawarma Grill takes its name from its signature – and most popular – dish: Lebanese shawarma. More about Shawarma Grill, London

If you’ve never tried Lebanese shawarma, you’ve been hiding under a rock too long, and you should immediately head to Shawarma Grill along High Road Leyton in East London’s Stratford. The delicious Levantine that gives this halal restaurant its name is similar to the Turkish doner kebab and the Greek gyros: lamb, chicken, beef or a combination of meats are slowly cooked to perfection on a vertical spit. Served either on a plate or – always a favourite – packed into a wrap, the shawarma meat is matched by generous servings of tabbouleh, and fattoush, and topped with tahini, hummus, and pickles. Deceptively simple, shawarma is healthy and all-too satisfying.

Knowing that East London locals are a cosmopolitan bunch, Shawarma Grill has expanded its offering beyond Lebanese (although all their produce remains certified halal) to offer a selection that takes in noodles, South Asian curries and biryani rice dishes. This Stratford special, minutes from Leyton station down High Road Leyton in Stratford, also offers a range of juices, milkshakes, smoothies, and hot beverages to wash it all down. Go proper Lebanese and order up a namesake shawarma grill and a mint tea.

In a sentence, food was delicious, service was dreadful. This was my second time here and I don't think I will go again due to the poor service. It wasn't this bad first time round. They said they was short staffed but that's no excuse. My milkshake didn't arrive so I just picked a bottle of water from their fridge as I was so thirsty, finished my meal without drinking anything with it :/ the only positive is that the food was perfect, nice blend and well cooked. If you are going to pay such prices you expect the food and the service to be good but on this occasion it wasn't. Won't go there again.

This was my first visit and I must say the shawarma chicken wrap was delicious, it was different than the other restaurants that I have been to in the past
