More about the restaurant: Shish

Dear diners, please be aware that Shish is now licensed to serve alcohol.

Shish has stood on Halfway Street in the centre of Sidcup since 1993, but their tradition goes back much further than that. This restaurant stands in the shadows of hundreds of years of Ottoman and Turkish cuisine, and all the myriad dishes that that entails. It means mezzes – the whole range, from hummus, halloumi, dolmades and more – and then a huge range of grilled meats to follow. So take the train to Sidcup or New Eltham (close to the University of Greenwich) for a great Turkish meal at Shish!

Thinking about making a Shish booking?

Turkish food was made for sharing and enjoying with a gang, so it’s no wonder that Shish on Halfway Street in Sidcup is such a big hit with big groups of friends and families. Whether you’re after some refined veggie options bursting with flavour and nutrients or if you’re looking to eat mountains of marinated and charcoal grilled meats, the menu at this Sidcup spot will certainly whet your appetite.

Lamb comes in the form of cutlets, ribs and kofte and chicken comes as grilled wings or kulbasti, but the real stars of the show are the shish kebabs, which are marinated in spices and then cooked over charcoal in the time-honoured traditional way. Throw in Turkish vegetarian favourites – falafel, moussaka, stuffed aubergines and potatoes – and grilled whole seabass and salmon fish dishes, and you’re well on the way to a great night out in Sidcup. We highly recommend you try the coban salatasi (a finely chopped tomato salad with onions and herbs) on some crispy pide bread (thin, herbed flatbread) before trying one of the incredible kebabs or steaks on offer. As you can see, the food at Shish in Sidcup is remarkable, but don’t just take our word for it – book a table today!
