More about Shish Meze - Hutton, Billericay

So, as we mentioned, the menu at Shish Meze in Hutton is the star of the show and with so many ways you can dine, what’s not to love? What we mean by that is, if you’re in a large group or in the mood to try a variety of dishes, why not share several hot and cold meze plates. Shish Meze has a diverse array of options, and we recommend opting hot dishes of scampi with garlic, white wine and a lemon butter sauce, chicken skewers with a spicy yoghurt sauce and sigara böreği of pastries filled with feta and spinach. For the cold, try out the Turkish classic şakşuka of pan fried aubergine, red peppers and mushrooms in Shish Meze’s special tomato sauce, yaprak sarma of stuffed vine leaves, and of course, a plate of creamy hummus to go alongside.

For those with a heartier appetite, Shish Meze – just out of Billericay – also offers a range of Turkish mains that will fill even the most ravenous diners. Try out the special chicken kebab brimming with chicken breast, peppers, mushrooms, rice and salad or feast on chargrilled salmon served with fresh salad and lemon. This Hutton restaurant also serves Turkish pizzas called pide, moussaka, lamb casserole and a lamb shank dish that’s highly recommended. Whatever you select, this Rayleigh Road restaurant, about ten minutes from Billericay is guaranteed to satisfy. Booking ahead is essential.

Fantastic food, great atmosphere, very attentive staff. Would definitely recommend for a great night out! Very generous portions. Restaurant was very tastefully decorated, plenty of space between tables, not at all over crowded. Excellent!

The restaurant, service and meal were all excellent. The only possible criticism was that meals were just too large - we couldn't possible finish them.

Excellent food. Restaurant beautifully decorated. Staff very attentive and pleasant. It was nice to be able to see the chefs cooking too. Would definitely recommend it as it's worth a visit.

We went on the opening night, fab entertainment and atmosphere. Nice staff. Food was good too but service was slow which why it's not a six. But that's expected as it's new. Hopefully it will improve and become the new local favourite.

Superb food, excellent friendly service, reasonable prices. Very large portions, had to have a doggy bag. Our table was slightly too close to the adjoining table, but that is nit-picking. Would certainly pay another visit.

Nice food but they had a singer in the restaurant that was singing to music so loud it wasn't possible to talk to each other and we couldn't hear the waiter. I've woken up this morning with quite a sore throat from shouting across the table all evening!
