More about the restaurant: Soosi

Residents of Leeds suburb Oakwood have a fantastic place to enjoy Mediterranean cuisine in the form of Soosi. Dishes from Italy and Persia (including Iran) are selected for flavour and popular appeal, prepared to order by world-class chefs and presented to diners in their fun, atmospheric dining rooms along Roundhay Road. Soosi’s menus might sound like an exercise in fusion cuisine, but in actual fact the traditions of Italy and Persia are respected, with the selection organised to make it clear what you’re eating.

Thinking about making a Soosi booking?

Sossi Mediterranean Grill stands out on Oakwood’s Roundhay Road like a beacon. Set in recently refurbished premises, this bright, fun restaurant offers incredible Mediterranean dishes to Leeds diners at great prices. Representing the cuisines of Italy and the Meddle East, with a particular emphasis on Iranian or Persian style dishes, what better place to start than with a selection of Middle Eastern starters. The baba ghanoush is some of the best you’ll ever try, while the kashk e bademjan take grilled eggplant and mashes it with fried onion, chopped walnuts, herbs and spices, and serves the lot with fresh home-made bread. Baba ganoush two-point-oh!

Italian cuisine has a strong showing at Soosi with their Italian menu divided up into pollo (chicken), pizza, pasta and fish selections. The pollo Siciliana is a great option, breadcrumbed and served with a spicy Neapolitan sauce, plus plenty of mozzarella and parmasan. The tagliatelle vegetarian is a vego’s delight, laden with roast vegetables and a garlic and cream sauce. But we can’t recomend heartily enough the char grilled kebabs that are created in Soosi’s Roundhay Road kitchen. The koobideh kebab gets you two skewers of minced lamb and onion, grilled to perfection, and served with your choice of home-made bread, salad, or delicious saffron rice. Oakwood’s best Mediterranean grill’s servings barely leave you room for dessert, but you really should finish with a delicious cup of Persian tea for a truly authentic pan-Mediterranean culinary experience.
