About Southbank Boston Spa

In the heart of gorgeous Boston Spa, Southbank is a restaurant and bar born from the passion and hard work of one talented chef, Darren Danby. Chef Danby has over 17 years experience in the business and has cooked at some the UK’s most famous restaurants as well as with plenty of internationally-respected chefs. It’s therefore no surprise that Southbank – to be found just outside of Wetherby on Boston Spa’s High Street – offers an internationally-inspired food menu with options ranging from pizzas, burgers, skewers and plenty from the grill, all of which is refined, beautiful and nothing short of exquisite. After your meal at the restaurant, head upstairs to the vibrant bar for a post-meal tipple to top off a perfect evening at Southbank Boston Spa.

More about Southbank Boston Spa, Wetherby

Everything about Southbank – from the way it looks from the outside to the beautifully-presented food – is stylish and sophisticated, yet still manages to radiate a definite sense of fun. Although young, this restaurant and bar has very quickly become a true gem of Boston Spa and, led by Chef Danby, brings so much to the High Street of this Wetherby suburb. We’ve mentioned the credentials of Chef Danby above, so we’ll go ahead and jump straight into details of the menu. It makes use of flavour from more than a few parts of the world and the attention to detail is something to behold.

Begin your meal at Southbank Boston Spa perhaps with crispy and aromatic duck hirata buns with pickled cucumber and watercress salad, or opt for Malaysian fried pork belly with honey, soy, sesame and crispy Asian noodle salad. Main courses, and quality really is everywhere to see. The team at Southbank aren’t afraid to claim their burgers as the best you’ll ever eat and each patty is made with local beef, seasoning, steak fat and absolutely nothing else, then of course there’s the chicken or veggie options. Also on the menu are hand-stretched and stonebaked romana-style pizzas, 35-day aged signature steaks from the grill and mains like swordfish skewers with giant tiger prawns and salmon. Wetherby, Boston Spa, you’re lucky to have Southbank.

Friendly and helpful staff, awesome food, with a good choice selection. Quirky/ trendy setting. Good ambience. Fabulous cocktails, best porn star martini I’ve ever had!

Really lovely food and atmosphere. Still a few minor teething problems, like waiting for menus etc but absolutely nothing to ruin an evening, unless you're an idiot. Only mentioning so it's noted as constructive feedback. Only other thing to mention is when opening a tab I was asked to leave my bank card behind the bar rather than it just being swiped for future charges incase someone does a runner. Wasn't keen on my bank card being out of sight for an evening, especially in day and age of contactless payments and even if it were safe, it wasn't within my safekeeping. However I'm delighted Southbank is open and will definitely be returning as a regular haunt.

Lovely night, food was really nice & lots of things on the menu we wanted to try. One of the meals came out wrong but they were really quick to correct it & offered a free cocktail as an apology which was a nice touch. Manager came out to chat to us all & ask for our opinions which was nice. Great to have this bar reopened & rebranded. Good luck to you all.

First time visit, couldn't recommend highly enough. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable as I have an allergy to Lactose (which in some places can be a nightmare) but they were very helpful and made sure no dairy was present in the dish I chose. My friend and I absolutely loved our meal and drinks, it's the best steak I've ever tasted! We will definitely be back! Thanks so much

Food was as good as it's ever been. Great to have DD back in town! I had steamed duck buns to start and the ever gorgeous Black Jack burger for main.......all ace!!! Lively Friday evening. We booked for 8.30. A couple of drinks in bar upstairs. Service slightly longer than normal waiting for starter but simply allowed the 4 of us a good catch up. Can't wait to go back!! 🍻

Still finding their feet so service was a bit poor/slow - asking for things and then not getting them so having to ask again. Main reason for the score is the food was ok but just ok. Wasn't blown away and wasn't anything that exciting to choose from. Value-wise it was also ok. And they serve food on trays, which is both just a bit naff but also means the tables get crowded easily. Lots of room for improvement but it also wasn't a disaster so hopefully it will get better as it goes on.

Excellent food and great service from friendly staff! Highly recommend the aromatic duck for a starter. The childrens menu is also very good and offers a good variety of reasonably priced child friendly dishes which include a drink and ice cream. Would definitely recommend a visit!
