Winners of not one but two Good Curry Guide awards, Spice Merchants has become something of a legend in the big smoke. Located in London’s Docklands just near the West Ferry DLR station, it attracts the city’s elite crowd as well as hordes of hungry foodies. Enjoy top-notch wines in a chic environment as you and your table-mates wait for some of the best Indian cuisine that London has to offer. Situated on Salter Street, you’ll enjoy your elegant meal just a short walk from the Thames.
Incorporating a style of cooking inspired by the Moghuls called dhum phukt, Spice Merchants offers dishes that you won’t find on just any ol’ London curry house menu. This unique method of cooking is what has earned this great Indian restaurant two Good Curry Guide Awards and keeps hungry foodies coming back again and again. Even better, the staff at this Docklands eatery are unbelievably friendly and willing to answer any questions you might have about the rare specialties on Spice Merchants’ extensive menu. The options at Spice Merchants are varied, and you can decide between spicy dishes or ones that are made for more sensitive palates. Enjoy the hariali nazakat, a chicken dish made by infusing the meat with spices, then simmering it slowly on the grill and covering it with buttered garlic. Seafood lovers go crazy for the boro chingri special, a dish made with whole prawns, ground chillies, garlic, coriander and fresh herbs. We recommend the vegetarian shobzi masala. This decadent dish is prepared by cooking fresh seasonal vegetables in pure ghee, ground almond, fresh cream and a special sauce. It’s highly recommended to reserve in advance at this Docklands hotspot on Salter Street, the tables fill up fast!
Good food and good service The area is not very enticing though Easy to find just at the DLR Westferry exit Décor a little on The minimum side
Great food, very attentive but do not think they had checked the booking site and squeezed 6 of us onto a table which would have been better suited for four.
