It’s colourful, creative, and it beautifully balances age-old Indian tastes with modern innovation – and that’s just the decor. Spice Quarter is a unique Indian eatery in Cardiff, bringing together ancient traditions and top-shelf culinary skill. The chefs at this city centre restaurant in Cardiff’s cool Old Brewery Quarter earned their stripes in 5-star hotels of Mumbai and New Delhi, learning the celebrated high cuisine of the Maharaja and the Moghuls, and the presentation of each dish at Spice Quarter is a testament to that training. Better yet is the taste test. Whether leaning towards the scintillating murg kadhai or a mild vegetarian aloo gobhi, Spice Quarter presents classic Indian favourites in a new way, with a style and complexity of flavour few places can match. Spice Quarter fills up weeks before match days at Millennium Stadium and is always packed for working-day lunches, so booking ahead is necessary.
Good food from a great looking menu, excellent service by the attentive staff in really nice surroundings. All reasonably priced which helped towards a great night out.
What a bonus to having booked as it was rugby day in Cardiff and the restaurant filled up fast. We have been many times before and were well aware that there is a reduced menu on match day but that did not detract from the choices or the quality of the food. Excellent. See you soon.
Greeted by warm friendly staff, the service was good looked after very well. We all enjoyed the food in a relaxing atmosphere, can’t fault it the restaurant was of a high standard and very clean! Definitely will go back again. The entrance could do with some updating!
They provide an excellent service.Wide variety of meals on the menu. Lots of choices. Early bird menu very good also. We have dined here a few times and the meals are always top notch. We would highly recommend .
We were both made welcome by the staff very impressed with the glass panels over the kitchen we could see the meals getting prepared. Also my wife asked for a dopiatsa and that wasn't on the menu but the chef still produced the goods we were well impressed,I had a lambert vindallo that tasted gorgeous 'we .live in Devon so when we go again to Cardiff we will ,be going back ,And also would recommend this restaurant to any body really good . .
Second visit to Spice Quarter in the Brewery Quarter of Cardiff, this time with our relatives and all four of us rated the meals as excellent. We will recommend to our friends who visit Cardiff on a regular basis.
The food and service was great. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant was amazing. At the time of my visit the men’s toilet was a disgrace. The actual toilet for sitting on was lying on the floor and the floor was soaking and someone had been sick in the urinals. I know these things will have been caused by customers, but the management needs to inspect the condition of their toilets on a regular basis and have them cleaned by their cleaning team if this situation arises.
Wouldn't go again was just okay. No one came to door to welcome us. Was very crammed where we was sat. So was asked to be moved as we was practically sat on the laps of the people who was sat next to us. The staff member I asked said she would have to speak to the manager. Manager seemed nice enough and did move us but not much of a difference in space between tables. Not much choice from the menu. I had a lamb biryani which was very hot and tasty with onion bajis which were delicious. I thought it would have been abit more special. They also put a service charge of 10% which felt obliged to pay as it was stated on the bill. If there was more effort in the service etc then wouldn't begrudge giving a tip. Not going again
once again great food, but it seems the potion size has been reduced, I always have the same starter and where I would have three items on my plate it has been reduced to two, the last couple of times we have been there but this does not take away the standard of the food, Its great !
Very friendly staff and delicious food. The staff brought out a little chocolate cake as it was my daughter's 18th birthday meal. Would have given a 6 but we had to wait quite a while for mains, which I don't mind as it was busy, but the food was cold when it arrived. Manager did offer to replace but we had already waited quite a while
