Crafty beers and dinners with discernment, properly puzzling pub quizzes, superlative Sunday roasts, a genuine gin menu giving you the chance to create your own #ginvention – the Star & Anchor is a London pub with a difference. Sitting proud on the Uxbridge Road in Ealing, a short stroll from West Ealing station and Ealing Broadway, The Star & Anchor has become a beloved West London institution since opening in 2011. As for the kitchen, it’s due to the sensibilities at work here that The Star earns its gastropub wings – incredible European and British cuisine balanced by down-to-earth bar snacks for good measure.

Christmas party menu – 2 courses for £20, 3 courses for £25
Christmas Day menu – £50 per headThe Star & Anchor is, at the end of the day, a British pub. It will never forget its roots even as it’s the kind of place that understands the definition of the classic pub has changed radically over the years. The well-stocked bar offers a dazzling array of drinks – wines, bubbles, beer – but it’s the Star’s dedicated gin menu and selection of craft beers that pushes the establishment into the echelons of the London tippling elite. Couple this with bar snacks that are perfectly suited to booze but take their cues from high-table cuisine and you’re well on your way to gastronomically-oriented pub territory over here in Ealing.
As for those in search of lunch in this part of West London, the Star & Anchor’s sandwiches feature fillings like 18-hour slow-cooked pork with chilli and peanut slaw; there are small plates and generous mains like the house-ground burger or the rare English onglet (smoked brisket and porter gravy with fries and buttered greens); and dinner features pub classics like beer-battered haddock and chips or what should become a pub classic: jerk chicken with smoke-rubbed chips and a pineapple and coriander salsa! What really gets us going, however, is the dry-aged Dingley Dell pork ribeye with Jersey Royals and asparagus – carefully sourced British fare through and through – typical of the quality on offer at the Star’s Uxbridge Road, Ealing premises. Be sure to book a table to avoid disappointment.
Lovely staff and good service, very dog and child friendly, nice atmosphere. I'm sorry to say I did feel a bit let down by the interiors and the food which I had expected to be better given the reviews I'd read and also the impression I'd taken from the website(I thought it was going to be more of a gastro pub). Perhaps it was too high an expection on my part or just not the chef's best food that day. I don't think I'd return for food, I'd consider a quick drink.
Nice bar, very friendly staff and efficient service. Menu was good with some unusual/interesting choices, lots of vegetarian and healthy options which was great as I took a veggie friend fro lunch. Can highly recommend it.
Excellent menu selection with a variety of delicious options to suit every appetite. Fast service from lovely staff. Food very well presented. Overall, fantastic experience. Highly recommend!
