One of Whitechapel’s trendiest sushi spots, Sushinoen on White Church Lane is committed to serving up London’s freshest Japanese dishes, sashimi, omakase and sukiyaki to both discerning foodies and casual diners alike. With Altab Ali Park as its backyard, Sushinoen is located in a busy region of East London, just steps from London Metropolitan University and Aldgate East. Open daily for lunch and dinner, Sushinoen looks forward to serving you an array of Japanese classics and sushi specialities.
Regardless of whether you’re a sushi-eating machine or you’re simply an amateur, you’ll find plenty of fantastic options on Sushinoen’s extensive menu. The restaurant can be found where White Church Lane meets Whitechapel Road, right at the entrance of Altab Ali Park in London’s Whitechapel area. It’s impossible to miss this local sushi joint – the izakaya lanterns adorning the restaurant’s brick exterior are a dead giveaway. Displaying a strong Japanese aesthetic sensibility with sleek wooden tables, sharp angles and artifacts, the interior of Sushinoen is stunning.
The cuisine at London’s Sushinoen is also stunning. Choose from a huge list of nigiri, sashimi, maki and temaki and build your own meal, or take a sushi platter like the Sushinoen moriawase platter or the salmon paradise. If you’re after something warm, we recommend the gyu teriyaki, a succulent cut of grilled beef served on an iron plate. The noodles at Sushinoen are especially comforting, like the seafood yakisoba or the miso ramen noodle soup with your choice of pork, chicken or vegetables. A scoop of green tea or black sesame ice cream – also available deep fried – provides the perfect conclusion to a meal at this Whitechapel Japanese restaurant. Book early to avoid disappointment!
This spot is maybe my new favourite sushi in east london if you don’t want to break the bank. Service was warm and welcoming, very diverse and varied menu, the quality of sushi was incredible and it was made so quickly.
The restaurant did not have our booking but they were able to get us a seat anyways. So kudos to the great staff and fantastic food.
Great food, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Prices reasonable for London. Sushi really nice and fresh and the udon noodles had a great flavour. One of London’s hidden gems.
Food was fantastic - highlights included the nasudengaku, spicy edamame, gyoza, veg tempura and the sushi platters. Service was great, and the menu is reasonably priced for such a variety. Will definitely be going back.
One of the best little sushi places i have been to in a while. Its tucked away and first impressions from the outside do not hint at the quality of the food and service inside. Tempura was fresh and showed no signs of dirty/old oil being used as is common in a lot of places. Fish was fresh, though the rolls were a little poorly cut, however this is a minor problem and didn't detract from the overall experience.
Food was delicious - we ate a selection of hot appetisers and sushi. Definitely recommend the grilled aubergine and house speciality sushi called London London. We weren't rushed out the door after two hours like at a lot of restaurants in London on a Friday night. However one of the waitresses did top up our wine glasses a little too aggressively, though service in general from other wait staff was friendly and helpful.
Sushinoen, one of the best Japanese restaurants east of the city centre, so glad it was just down the road from my house.. Unfortunately I had to move out of the area but I've been back a few times as the sushi is so good and the atmosphere always welcoming and comfortable, highly recommend!
Love this restaurant and all of my party really enjoyed themselves. The staff were very friendly and helpful, as it was a busy night it took a little while to get staffs attention sometimes but it was such a great night no one minded. Do try this restaurant, you will love it :)
Great food and very authentic, However, some of the dishes didn't seem to match their price. For example 6 pieces of vegetable tempura (2 slices of courgette, 2 slices of carrot, and 2 others covered in a light batter) for 8 quid is quite a lot. I'd eat here for lunch.
Great service and food. Sushi is fresh and delicious and the hot food very tasty. Went as a large party and the service was excellent! Also had great fun in the karaoke room! Thank you for a great evening of dining!
