Since it first opened all the way back in 1962, Taj Mahal has kept the people of Streatham coming back for more and more of their delicious Indian cuisine. Bringing the authentic flavours of India to London, at this traditional curry house on Leigham Court Road you’ll find an extensive menu full of all of the classics, from a hefty selection of curries to an array of starters and sides.
With its delectable Indian dishes and welcoming hospitality, it is no wonder that the Taj Mahal has become such a fixture in London’s Streatham area, and on the menu you’ll find just about every type of curry imaginable. From fiery dopiaza dishes to flavour packed bhunas and biryanis, there is something to suit everyone no matter what level of spice you’re seeking. Start your meal off by tucking into some old favourites like pakora, bhajis and samosas or a tandoori sheek kebab.
The main course menu is so lengthy you may struggle choosing from all of the options – we recommend trying the Hyderabadi chicken or lamb, slowly simmered in yoghurt and tamarind and flavoured with mild spices, or the karahi kebab khyberi, diced chicken cooked with khyberi spices, tomato and capsicum. Attracting curry-loving locals from the Streatham area of London to its location on Leigham Court Road, the Taj Mahal can get busy so score a seat at this cosy Indian restaurant by making your reservation in advance!
Excellent evening. We’ve been a few times before and it never fails to disappoint. Friendly staff, great quality food, wonderful value. Favourite curry house in London.
We have been coming to this restaurant for 30 years , I would. Recommend this restaurant to all friends and family , great for delivery too .
The food here is absolutely delicious! It's a quiet restaurant and the waiters are very friendly. I'm glad we discovered it - it'll be our new local :)
Lovely curry. Nice atmosphere. Great service. Good value..would recommend. Only slight disappointment was being charged for each of the dips for our popadums..70p each. Felt unnecessary.
I'm not a great lover of Indian food but I do really like the Taj Mahal and can usually find something on the menu that I enjoy. My partner, whose birthday it was and who does like Indian food, thought it was a fantastic place. So well done!!
we went this restaurant last weekend , food was really nice ,very cosy place but the service was a bit slowly, and we order a drink and they forgot to bring , but food is nice. tks
I booked a table for 4ppl when I got there the look on their faces said it all they did not expect 1 adult and 3 children, we felt uncomfortable all evening the food was lovely, portions very small.
Terrible. We walked out after 15 minutes as we hadn't been offered a drink, given a menu, or really even acknowledged. The table they sat us at had no cutlery, and the wall next to us was covered in dirty food marks and stains. Definitely avoid.
