If spicy street food is your thing then Thali & Pickles demands your reservation. Not only is it simply one of the best Indian restaurants in southwest London, but its location on Balham Station Road, right by the tracks and so a hop, skip and a jump from Wandsworth, Streatham Hill, Tulse Hill and other parts of London makes for a suitably hustling and bustling venue for a restaurant where you can expect to be served South Asia and the Indian subcontinent on a plate. Dedicated to healthy eating and fresh ingredients, Thali & Pickles works its magic all the way from street nibbles and starters like the spicy battered Amritsari machili (sea bass)and Chennai chicken to tandoori platters like the chef’s special nawabi kebabs and curry classics like Kashmiri rogan josh, served the authentic way.
The food was delicious with a welcome and unusually large vegetarian choice. The waiter was friendly without being pushy. However, we weren't offered poppadums at the start or coffee at the end of the meal and there is a very limited drinks choice. Overall, good but not stunning.
Great food and fantastic service! Really good choice for vegetarians as well as meat-eaters. This is one of our favourite restaurants and we go there regularly - highly recommended!
Amazing flavoursome food, knowledgeable and friendly staff, the perfect combination! It's going to be a regular place to visit, and really convenient opposite Balham tube.
Great food and the waiter was really attentive. Busy and buzzy. Thalli was excellent.
Really good food and service! Would go back again, good value for money.
