We had the set lunch menu and I had the hake which was delicious washed down with a light fresh white Rioja - one of best meals out I have had in a long while.

Lovely place. Bit quiet at lunch but maybe more a dinner place. Had their dessert for two people but really would have done four. Large portions!!

Great dining experience! Lovely atmosphere, beautiful decor, delicious food and helpful staff. Just £12 for two courses or £15 for three - bargain for the quality of food they serve. Will definitely be coming here again.

Food was as good as ever and the service is consistently excellent. The weekend lunch menu is excellent value. A regular favourite for Saturday lunchtime.

Decent food, very good choice of wine. Lovely decor but I still prefer their sister restaurant "The Outsider" on George IV Bridge. In comparison The Apartment's menu had a more narrow selection and I found it difficult to choose what I wanted for a different reason to my visits at The Outsider, where I would be happy ordering anything from that menu. The staff were lovely and very helpful but with being sat at a table in the corner, I felt we didn't receive attention as often as perhaps we would have preferred. All in all, it was a good experience but maybe next time for lunch instead of a dinner for a special occasion. I think there are other places I prefer to eat in the city.

It is years since I've been to The Apartment and it used to have a reputation for its unfriendly service and being slightly up itself in how it explained its menu. Changed days. The service was friendly and helpful. The menu was interesting and very tasty. I had a starter of duck egg and white asparagus which was lovely but personally would have preferred a different sauce to aioli. The main course of gnocchi, capers and goats cheese curd was similarly too and was a huge portion (I gave it a good go). A very enjoyable evening.

We were looking for a special family dinner out to celebrate my husband's birthday and The Apartment did not disappoint. Everything about it - from the friendly welcome to the imaginative menu to the courteous service - set the scene perfectly. Our meals were excellent - perfectly presented and insanely delicious. We look forward to visiting again and sampling further menus throughout the year.

I chose to visit The Apartment on the recommendation of the guests I had with me and was not disappointed. Food was very tasty and reasonably priced and waiting staff very attentive and pleasant. Our evening was somewhat spoiled by a rather noisy group of young women at the next table making conversation difficult but not a lot you can do about that.

We had a lovely evening! Food and service were both excellent, and we weren't rushed to release the table - particularly appreciated on what was obviously a busy evening for you. Our only (minor) criticism would be that noise levels were high, although I had requested a quiet table, but we appreciate that there was something on at the King's. The Apartment is excellent value, and we'll certainly be back!

My son and I arrived at 5pm on a quiet Tuesday summer evening. Staff (the main man) was running around rearringing a few tables and chairs in preparation for the usual busy evening to come. Service was friendly and efficient as always. The menu is excellent but my son and I can't resist a good steak so once again the flat iron steaks (medium rare) topped the bill and for the fifth or sixth time in a row they were superb. Crusty bread and olives for starters and plenty of time to relax and enjoy a coffee to finish. Looking forward to our next visit and maybe one day I'll try something different.

Excellent food and very friendly service. I had the halloumi skewers with sweet potato fries (didn't really need the fries because the skewers were so filling but boy they were good) - the beetroot coleslaw accompaniment was especially good and the dressing on the salad with nuts and seeds added a nice zingy freshness to the plate. I was too full for pudding but my friends had the ginger and pear upside down cake which was praised very highly. My extra strong decaf coffee was delicious as well. The restaurant was lively and had a good atmosphere and the staff looked after us very well. I can't wait to go back.

The Apartment is one of our favourite places! Last night we had the steak, which is always brilliant, but we always go for the great flavour matchings in their menu, which changes often and never disappoints. The atmosphere is just so cool and relaxed, a perfect date night but also great for dinner with friends!

Delicious food served at this small, friendly restaurant in Bruntsfield. My friend and I both had the set menu at £12 for 2 courses and weren't disappointed. We both started with hummus, baba ganoush, marinated feta & garlic crostini which was very tasty. She then had spaghetti with clams, mussels, prawns, chilli, lemon, white wine & garlic while as a vegetarian I was delighted with the wild mushroom, goats curd, sun blushed tomato & chestnut risotto. We finished off with coffee and were more than happy with the level of service received. Thoroughly recommended and will definitely be returning.

Good morning. My girlfriend and I visited The Apartment last night for dinner. After being barked at by the waitress to see if we were ready to order drinks, we then ordered our main courses. My girlfriend was underwhelmed by the fish of the day, which although well-cooked, came with a less-than-desirable slimey skin, and the new potatoes waxy and dry. I, however, chose the pork chop, and was hugely disappointed. When given the large steak knife, I had no idea what was to come, but it seems it was entirely necessary in order to eat one of the driest and tasteless pork chops I have ever had the misfortune to consume. I sincerely hope that was just an unusual occurance in a restaurant that otherwise has a lovely ambiance and a promising menu. I will not be returning.

We experienced exceptional, friendly service. Creative menu focused on locally produced ingredients. Couldn't have asked for a better end to a busy day exploring Edinburgh. A fairly casual, yet romantic setting with outstanding value to satisfy a broad range of appetites. Well worth the short distance from city centre, and expect to leave well satisfied knowing you have just experienced some of the best that young Edinburgh has to offer.

Reasonably busy for a Thursday evening but the staff are excellent . My son and I have similar tastes food wise so the small starter of mixed olives was followed by a "flat iron steak" done to perfection and washed down with a bottle of Innis & Gunn. With food and service of this quality it is best to book in advance to save disappointment.

The Apartment is a great restaurant with a really nice and relaxed vibe, whilst remaining classy and elegant. The staff are also extremely friendly and welcoming, however I was really disappointed with my main, there was no sauce or flavour and it wasn't a good piece of fish.

My second visit here in less than 2 months. First time had the supper menu and this time had the skewers - food excellent! Amazing tasting big green olives to start too. Beautiful bread and best ever olive oil to dip in! Preferred my tiramisu cheesecake not in a glass, and also preferred to eat it with teaspoon that came with my tea rather than the huge spoon that was provided. Would def go back again

The atmosphere, ambience, and food were all excellent. We went before the theatre and found it very well priced for the high standard of food. The service was excellent and i would like to have stayed longer, had we not have needed to get away a bit sharpish for the show. I will definitely go back. Now my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh.
