The Bolingbroke pub and restaurant is steeped in the history of London. Situated on the corner of Battersea’s Honeywell and Northcote Roads, this traditional British gastropub takes its name from the brilliant politician and reckless rake, Henry St John, 1st Viscount Bolingbroke. The Bolingbroke offers the best of British cuisine, beer and wine, with a daring streak that makes for an exciting night out or a lazy weekend spent pontificating at the bar, in the dining room, or watching the world go by from a table outside.
This Battersea corner pub offers a refined, traditional British restaurant dining and drinking experience. A family-friendly pub, there’s a great kids menu and plenty of toys and activities (cupcake decorating, anyone?) to keep the whippersnappers happy while their elders enjoy a glass or two of from The Bolingbroke’s remarkable wine list. Mum and dad can also enjoy great British cuisine either from the bar food selection, or from the a la carte menu in the separate and beautifully appointed dining room, which is also available for private hire. The food is British but atypical. This London gastropub’s menu uses ingredients sourced from The Bolingbroke’s very own country farmstead – free-range pork, chicken and beef. Superlative seafood is sourced direct from boats off England’s southern coast. All this means that the dishes coming out of The Bolingbroke’s Northcote Road kitchen are as fresh and seasonal as possible.
Winning accolades left, right and centre (Harden’s London Restaurants list is just one of many to ladle praise upon The Bolingbroke), Battersea has been put firmly on the map as one of London’s top destinations for those on the lookout for the best of the city’s gastropubs and British restaurants. Whether you choose to sit outside on the open-air terrace on a summer’s evening, right on Honeywell and Northcote roads, to prop yourself up by the bar, or back by the open fire in the dining room with up to 36 seated or 50 standing friends and family, The Bolingbroke offers a relaxed environment with excellent service, great food, and fine drink.
Great food, friendly staff in a buzzy environment. The Roasts are on Sunday are def worth a visit, but book in advance as they tend to book up quickly l
We had a lovely time . Our party consisted of a group of girls. Food was fab and we all enjoyed it. Looking forward to next time.
Staff all super friendly and attentive. Food was AMAZING. Great experience. Will definetly be going back soon. Very child friendly too. Lots of drink selection.
Amazing venue, have been here before and it is always busy! The food was superb, all of my friends loved it and it was a really special birthday meal. I will always come back here and recommend to others.
I had a good lunch there with a colleague. The red wine the waiter chose for us was superb and the food quite delicious. I cannot give The Bolingbroke the full 6 points as the music playing for the first half hour or so was loud techno dance music totally inappropriate for lunchtime. At our and another customer's request the music was first turned off completely and then later resumed very quietly with relaxing music.
The Bolingbroke was recommended by a friend as having a fantastic Sunday roast, so I booked for myself, partner and 4month old son to go there for fathers day. The place itself is light, spacious and well presented, the service very friendly, helpful and efficient and the food especially the roast most certainly did not disappoint. We will be going back.
I went with three others to the Bolingbroke on a Tuesday evening on their August 50% off food offer! The atmosphere was both modern and cosy, lovely decor and nice ambience. There was a great choice on the menu, approx 5-6 choices for each course and all the food was tasty and well executed. Service was pleasing and the whole experience was great, worth repeating. The price was incredibly reasonable on the offer but wouldn't be unreasonable even when the offer is not available. I look forward to going back. Parking was easy too after 6.30pm !
Lively, buzzing atmosphere, obviously a popular place to eat. The food was delicious, and the price very reasonable. The only downside was a nasty smell that we thought was coming from a dog belonging to people on the next table, but was actually the toilets! Don’t think the waiter should have been quite so keen to tell us they had problems with their sewers, much better to let us think it was the dog. Not a great thing for a food provider.
Excellent throughout. Great food and friendly welcoming service. There are many restaurants to choose from in the area. Not many that we return to. The Bolingbroke is the exception, we are never disappointed.
Amazing roast - huge portion, food was great quality. I had roast lamb which was delicious and then sticky date pudding with Vanilla ice cream. We had an issue with our reservation where some of the guests didn't arrive and the staff were friendly and accommodating with this. Service was quick and we had a great evening We will be back again very soon, many thanks!
