Further Information

Vibrant, sexy, classy and casual all at once, the Cuban is one of the hottest hangouts around Bristol’s revitalised old harbourside. Tucked behind Millennium Square in Canon’s Marsh near the city centre, the Cuban could not be better located for locals and visitors looking for a fun night out in Bristol, with bundles of Latin American charm, quirky decor, Caribbean dance rhythms, colourful cocktails and of course tantalising tapas and heartier dishes celebrating both old and new Cuban cuisine. Whether hitting the dance floor, planning a special occasion meal, or just wanting to relax and let off some steam, the Cuban is bound to please.

The Cuban boasts one of Bristol city centre’s best stocked bars, and with over a hundred varieties of rum it is an absolute must-visit for connoisseurs of Caribbean concoctions. But the food menu can make punters just as legless as the punch. This harbourside hotspot pumps out sizzling Latin American tapas freshly prepared to order. Balancing traditional Cuban with Nuevo Cubano cuisine, these celebrate dashes of Spanish, Portuguese, African, Chinese, Native American Taino and wider Caribbean influence. From soothing fried plantains or tender calamari to indulgent arancini and Asian-style king prawns, the options are endless – but space is not in Canon’s Marsh, so be sure to book ahead!

Lovely staff, very attentive and helpful. The food was excellent and very generous. The atmosphere is unique, the music and dancers were brilliant entertainment. A great place to go for everything for your night out without having to move on to somewhere else for dancing

Last Friday evening I went to The Cuban for a meal and dancing with some friends. The staff there couldn't do enough to help us. It was a wonderful night and my group of friends haven't stopped talking about it since. We enjoyed a very rare find of 241 cocktails on a Friday night! See you again soon xx

Visited The Cuben early on a Saturday evening, it was not busy as there were empty tables. It took a minute or two to be greeted at the door and shown to our table. We were only given the food menu at the time when we were sat to our table. After approximately 10 minutes a waitress came over to us asking what we would like to order, we asked for the drinks menu and was told about the 2 for 1 offer on the cocktails. 10 more minutes passed and a different waitress appeared and took our order, we were still waiting for our drinks at this time. We could see our drinks on the bar waiting to be collected and brought to us. Our food came promptly and we then had to ask for our drinks. The food was delicious and I cannot knock the food. We had a look at the small options available for dessert and choose not to, as nothing tickled our fancy. Another waitres came and asked if we would like a dessert and we said no and asked for our bill. No more than 5 seconds later another waitress asked if we would like a dessert and I had to explain that it was being sorted. Overall the food is great but the service felt like that the staff are not given enough training as it felt very disjointed from the moment we were eventually greeted at the door to the uninformative waitresses ( I should know I got served by all of them through out my meal). Will not be visiting them again.

Had a great evening! The food was lovely, however the service wasn't great!! Slow being served our first course and drinks and and then even worse was the fact we were rushed to pay and leave after finishing our meal! During the meal, some people on our table had finished their meal however two of us had not... but the waitress started to collect everyone's plates away on the table despite the fact it was clear some were still eating their meal. That said, thank you for some fantastic food and we loved the atmosphere from the music and dancers!!

Great service served with a smile; restaurant was quiet for a Wednesday however there were some dance lessons which provided a great entertainment to our party of 6. Main course portions were on a generous size (I had the seafood paella), but I thought the tapas could have been bigger (we ordered the 5 tapas for £24 to start for 6 people). Would visit again to sample other main courses.

Really great atmosphere! Food was amazing and the Mojitos were also lovely! Actually tasted of Mojitos not just watered down Mint water. Service was brilliant. Will definitely return but this time I'll go later in the evening as I think it'll be more atmospheric the later you go. We were there at 5pm so quite early but still good! Had a lovely time

Really nice atmosphere. Food menu not extensive but quality of meals great. The paella for one is actually quite a big portion (had half packed to take away!). Staff friendly, and will accommodate any request you have. Cocktails are amazing. Would definitely recommend the Zombie, and the Fruit Punch from the non-alcoholic selection. Overall had a lovely experience. Will definitely come back.

lovely food but the service was abysmal. We went on a groupon offer, we couldn't get the time we wanted so had to book for half an hour later although when we got there the restaurant was virtually deserted and I'm sure that if we had turned up at the time we wanted there would have been space. There were plenty of wait staff on duty and looking busy walking up and down but they all had a talent for avoiding eye contact.

My visit with a friend was very, very pleasant. And I have to say all thankfully to young very smily and nice waiter who looked after us. He called in a few times asking if food was good, if we want more drinks, condiments etc. Very nice experience. Food was good, big portion! All tasty.

We had a really nice time. It was very busy and we loved the atmosphere. The food took quite a while to come but we were offered a starter and a free drink to compensate for that we only took the drink but we felt that even if you were busy you were still trying to make our visit an enjoyable one. Which is was.

Lovely time at the Cuban. Was a Monday evening, so seemed like we had the restaurant all to ourselves! Standard of food was good, hot and portion sizes were adequate - nothing at all to complain about really. Couldn't rate it as 6 stars as it wasn't great, but my family and I will be back again and would certainly recommend it to others.

The food and 2 for 1 cocktails were lovely at the Cuban but a couple of things let it down: 1. The staff weren't very friendly. One in particular didn't seem to know how to smile and everything we asked for seemed like a chore. You really got the impression she didn't want to be there. 2. The waitresses kept clearing the plates of those that had finished eating before everyone at the table had finished. 3. There was live music playing which was good and would be enjoyable if you'd just come for drinks but far too loud when you're having a meal.

I really liked the vibe of this place and would like to go back on a weekend night. The staff were very friendly and the Mojito's very nice . We had the Lamb and Chicken Kabab's which were really nice followed up by bananas and caramel also very nice. We had a groupon voucher which I would recommend getting if still available.

Brilliant experience. I love this place. Perhaps the only way I could see an improvement is by turning up the AC because once the dancing got going, the temperature shot up and it was sauna thereafter. But it is a fantastic restaurant and I highly recommend it. Only non-mexican latin american restaurant in Bristol and non-salsa latin party in Bristol!

Gorgeous food, great location and lively fun atmosphere. Just a shame that the service was awful. We ordered 4 cocktails on arrival and they took approximately 30 minutes to arrive despite us asking where they were. When my strawberry dacquari arrived it was only just over half full, as it is a small (expensive) drink anyway I queried this with the waitress. She just said that's how it comes! Later on we popped outside for a quick cigarette and when we came back a couple were sitting at our table even though our drinks were still there. The waitress should not have allowed this as we had not had our desserts brought to the table and not asked for the bill. Will not be returning to the Cuban unless better customer service is implemented here.

Friendly service, good food and lots of dancing afterwards - an enjoyable Saturday night! However, if you’re looking to have a good chat with friends over dinner, the music is quite loud making it difficult to hear each other - either book earlier in the evening or head here for post dinner drinks.
