Undoubtedly one of the hottest spots in Bristol’s revitalised Canon’s Marsh harbourside area, the Cuban celebrates the colours, flavours, sounds and sights of la bella Havana. A haven for Caribbean rum drinkers, a favourite for Latin American groovers and a multicultural delight for foodies, the Cuban does it all, and it’s hard to think of a safer bet for a fun night out in Bristol’s city centre. Just be sure to book ahead, because it’s always buzzing at the Cuban.
Vibrant, sexy, classy and casual all at once, the Cuban is one of the hottest hangouts around Bristol’s revitalised old harbourside. Tucked behind Millennium Square in Canon’s Marsh near the city centre, the Cuban could not be better located for locals and visitors looking for a fun night out in Bristol, with bundles of Latin American charm, quirky decor, Caribbean dance rhythms, colourful cocktails and of course tantalising tapas and heartier dishes celebrating both old and new Cuban cuisine. Whether hitting the dance floor, planning a special occasion meal, or just wanting to relax and let off some steam, the Cuban is bound to please.
The Cuban boasts one of Bristol city centre’s best stocked bars, and with over a hundred varieties of rum it is an absolute must-visit for connoisseurs of Caribbean concoctions. But the food menu can make punters just as legless as the punch. This harbourside hotspot pumps out sizzling Latin American tapas freshly prepared to order. Balancing traditional Cuban with Nuevo Cubano cuisine, these celebrate dashes of Spanish, Portuguese, African, Chinese, Native American Taino and wider Caribbean influence. From soothing fried plantains or tender calamari to indulgent arancini and Asian-style king prawns, the options are endless – but space is not in Canon’s Marsh, so be sure to book ahead!
Brilliant evening, the food was excellent, loved the live music and Cuban dancers , would highly recommend, we shall be returning in the near future
What’s there not to like about The Cuban? The venue is very inviting, the music sets the mood & there is a wide range of food & cocktails for everyone. If you’re having lunch or an evening out, The Cuban definitely ticks all the boxes 💃🏻
Service and food excellent. Very attentive. Good atmosphere and music. Good choice on menu although mainly general choices with Mexican and Spanish influences. Not specifically authentic Cuban dishes.
It was a fantastic evening, great atmosphere, really friendly staff and food was amazing (tapas were so big we couldn’t eat them all) will definitely come here again! Also it was noisy but i loved the entertainment.
Last Friday evening I went to The Cuban for a meal and dancing with some friends. The staff there couldn't do enough to help us. It was a wonderful night and my group of friends haven't stopped talking about it since. We enjoyed a very rare find of 241 cocktails on a Friday night! See you again soon xx
Visited The Cuben early on a Saturday evening, it was not busy as there were empty tables. It took a minute or two to be greeted at the door and shown to our table. We were only given the food menu at the time when we were sat to our table. After approximately 10 minutes a waitress came over to us asking what we would like to order, we asked for the drinks menu and was told about the 2 for 1 offer on the cocktails. 10 more minutes passed and a different waitress appeared and took our order, we were still waiting for our drinks at this time. We could see our drinks on the bar waiting to be collected and brought to us. Our food came promptly and we then had to ask for our drinks. The food was delicious and I cannot knock the food. We had a look at the small options available for dessert and choose not to, as nothing tickled our fancy. Another waitres came and asked if we would like a dessert and we said no and asked for our bill. No more than 5 seconds later another waitress asked if we would like a dessert and I had to explain that it was being sorted. Overall the food is great but the service felt like that the staff are not given enough training as it felt very disjointed from the moment we were eventually greeted at the door to the uninformative waitresses ( I should know I got served by all of them through out my meal). Will not be visiting them again.
Had a great evening! The food was lovely, however the service wasn't great!! Slow being served our first course and drinks and and then even worse was the fact we were rushed to pay and leave after finishing our meal! During the meal, some people on our table had finished their meal however two of us had not... but the waitress started to collect everyone's plates away on the table despite the fact it was clear some were still eating their meal. That said, thank you for some fantastic food and we loved the atmosphere from the music and dancers!!
Great service served with a smile; restaurant was quiet for a Wednesday however there were some dance lessons which provided a great entertainment to our party of 6. Main course portions were on a generous size (I had the seafood paella), but I thought the tapas could have been bigger (we ordered the 5 tapas for £24 to start for 6 people). Would visit again to sample other main courses.
Not the cheapest place to eat but the service was good with our server being very helpful and friendly, Our meals were delivered quickly and though didn't look a lot was quite filling so didn't leave feeling hungry. Menu was simple with a variety of items that should suit all tastes and was clearly marked for which items were Gluten free, vegetarian and containing alcohol . Would I eat there again? yes I would but only for a special occasion due to the prices.
Really great atmosphere! Food was amazing and the Mojitos were also lovely! Actually tasted of Mojitos not just watered down Mint water. Service was brilliant. Will definitely return but this time I'll go later in the evening as I think it'll be more atmospheric the later you go. We were there at 5pm so quite early but still good! Had a lovely time
