About The Dynamo
Dynamo means a lot of things to a lot of people: a whirling dervish of a bike instrument, a magician from Bradford, a whole host of Eastern European football clubs...down in South London though, it means just one thing: The Dynamo in Putney. They’re a dynamic bunch in a lot of ways, turning out plates of sourdough pizza and cups of coffee with all the ease of seasoned Italian pros, in a way not unlike seasoned Italian pros turn out for the aforementioned Warsaw Pact XIs. Visit them on Putney Bridge Road and try it out for yourself.

South of the river – though close to Putney Bridge on Putney Bridge Road in, surprise surprise, Putney (closest station Putney or Putney Bridge, of course) – there is a restaurant that is building a bit of a buzz. More of a low hum, a constant din, a whizzing whirr of activity. That’ll be the Dynamo, where they spin out steaming plates of sourdough Italian pizza at a veritable rate of knots. These are the real deal – oven imported from Napoli no less – and they make a trip to this part of London worthwhile all on their own.
That, however, isn’t to say that they’re the only thing on offer at The Dynamo. They open up early around this end of Putney, and from 8am daily you can get piping hot coffee, eggs, muesli and other breakfast treats to go along with your Italian fare. Take a trip along Putney Bridge to, well, Putney Bridge Road for a superb way to start your London day.
A great spot for lunch when it is sunny as you can sit out the front. The service was great and we had a super food salad and a green salad both of which were delicious.
Busy but great service and amazing food. WEnt for breakfast but even their pizzas looking amazing. Will definitely go back soon. Make sure you book
Service good. Quick and efficient welcome. Food interesting and varied. Particularly enjoyed tge Chilli Eggs and the Granola Ambiance genuinely authentic cycling enthusiasts. A good start to a Sunday
Always tasty food here, and the coffee is just amazing. Been back for brunch numerous times. Friendly staff. Always bustling on a weekend morning. Sitting outside on a warm day is very relaxing.
The food was good and atmosphere friendly at first. Staff lovely but extremely slow to take orders/clear tables. We had an issue with a table of drunk teachers next to us who were being extremely loud and rude when we politely asked one man in particular to stop shouting everything he was saying. The managers watched but didn't say a word until these teachers had gone. They came and apologised and commented on how rude they had been, but it was too little too late for us - they should have controlled the obvious noise if they had been aware of it. It was a shame because the other table ruined our meal. We will definitely come back to try brunch though, perhaps the other guests will be less lairy then!
First time for dinner last night, had previously been for breakfast, which is very good. Had some really good sharing plates to start followed by really good sour dough pizzas. A really friendly team, who all have a good sense of humour. If you haven't been you should, breakfast or lunch/ dinner. It's really good, and really good coffee!
Yummy food for brunch. The options on the high street can get busy at times, but Dynamo is really spacious with plenty of room. We had a baby with us, they had high chairs. It's a bike themed cafe with bike racks just inside the door, but you don't have to be wearing lycra to fit in
Great new cafe restaurant serving breakfast and light meals. Has a cycling theme and attracts loads of passing bikers especially on weekends. Food is fresh and exciting, they use chilli a lot to spice things up and the coffees are amazing. With any new place they are still learning and finding there way a bit and service could improve... otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable meal - Well done!
First time at The Dynamo and loved it! Brunch with friends and had very yummy avocado & eggs - perfect after a late night out.
Although the staff were lovely individuals they were very under staffed, we waited a really long time just for a drink, one of our meals arrived while the rest of us were half way through eating. The toilets were flooded, which meant a queue for the disabled toiled which was absolutely filthy (due to muddy cyclists and no time for them to be monitored by staff) Service charge was added to the bill - think that was a bit optimistic! Food was nice. Staff were nice - just service was poor.
Food was really delicious, unfortunately service was bad, very slow (half an hour for our coffee and tea to arrive and drinks arrived twice or not at all) and hectic staff atmosphere, it was a busy time on a Sunday but still not handled well. But perfectly friendly if just chaotic and the food is really good so worth the wait just about!
Great food. Great atmosphere. Staff were attentive. My only slight critasism is we ordered a bottle of fizz and the waitress didn't know how to open it. So we had to. Not a big thing. Other than that we had a lovely time at Dynamo. Thank you
Food was fantastic but service minimal. We would have had another bottle of wine and dessert if we had been offered/had the waiters come anywhere near us. After our plates were cleared we were left sat at our table for an hour before one of us went to find a waiter to ask if we could pay.
Yummy pizza, friendly service, nice place and not busy at all on a Saturday evening, which made for a pleasant relaxed atmosphere with the front of the restaurant opened out onto the sunny street. Delicious gelato for pud!
Went on a very busy Sunday, booked a table, had to wait for table to come free but other than that food was delicious, teas and coffees and drinks were great, service was quick. Would thoroughly recommend.
Great food, very accommodating and brilliant service. We wanted to sit outside and as soon as a table was free they came and helped us to move. Would highly recommend. Would definitely recommend going for brunch.
Food was delicious. A couple of orders came with mistakes but the kind waiters fixed the dishes straight away. We had a beautiful square table by the window at the front that the manager kindly saved for our group.
Dynamo never fails to disappoint! Perfect place for a brunch whether it be with a large group or just a couple of you. Service is always great, a must visit in Putney!
Great pizzas and salads and extremely charming service at this cycling cafe/restaurant. The menu is a bit limited, but what they do they do very well. I'll definitely be coming back.
Great place. We sat outside on a sunny day and enjoyed chorizo hash with avocado and poached egg with a glass of wine - delicious! Menu is pretty basic with pizza etc but great for a lunchtime.
