Nestled in the hills above the village of Holmfirth, The Ford Inn is a lovely country pub boasting stunning views. Ever since 1820, The Ford Inn has been a public house, and to this day, the building still retains its historic charm, with roaring fires and traditional decor creating the perfect setting to tuck into some hearty British cuisine in. We recommend going for the homemade steak and ale pie, the breaded Whitby wholetail scampi with hand-cut chips and peas, or the trio of locally-made sausages served with black pudding mash and onion gravy. Whether its for a family meal or a few pints with a great view, The Ford Inn attracts guests from all over the Huddersfield area. Booking a table in advance is recommended.
For traditional country cooking The Ford Inn, close to Holmfirth, is where you’ll encounter some of the best in the area. Located in a peaceful, rural setting on Greenfield Road just 2.5 miles away from Meltham, this quintessential British restaurant dishes out all the classics you know and love. Everyone is welcome at Huddlesfield’s The Ford Inn, where the restaurateurs take special care to ensure that all guests–whether vegetarian, gluten-free or vegan–are well taken care of.
The menu at this Huddersfield restaurant is packed with all the classics from steak and ale to beer-battered cod with chips. One of The Ford Inn’s most popular dishes is the crispy belly pork with homemade black pudding, sauteed new potatoes, vegetables and devilled gravy, and you can’t go wrong with the homemade chicken kiev. Swing by this spot on Sundays for the beloved Sunday Roasts, and don’t forget to take along the little ones. They’ll surely be pleased with The Ford Inn’s homemade chicken nuggets or fish fingers. Just make sure you reserve ahead to secure your table over at Holmfirth’s The Ford Inn. Enjoy!
The meal was excellent and the staff great. The place was very busy and the staff efficient. The meal portions were extremely satisfying. This is our second visit and we shall certainly recommend it to others.
Great. Table was ready, pub was packed Home cooked food with generous portions. We'll be back. For sure. Lovely lunch with swift service at the table.
fantastic food! only problem was far too much for me! could do with smaller portion availability on all main courses! if only i was a good eater Ha! Ha!
This pub serves excellent food, the staff are all pleasant and the service is good. I would definitely recommend a visit and I will be going again if I am in the area.
Wonderful warm welcome when we arrived, lovely friendly couple. Not nearly as busy as last time we were there, but these are new owners & had only been in approx. 4 weeks. We were a party of 4 & the meal was ok, I had the turkey Xmas dinner which was very nice, but sorry, can not do al dente Brussel sprouts... & the Yorkshire puds were a bit soggy. we had ordered a bottle of wine, which they seem to have forgotten, had to remind them, so had already started our meal by the time it arrived. I think once they get settled & more people book meals, the service should get better, it needs too, as we could only count 3 other couples eating the whole time we were there.
The Ford Inn serves a good variety of traditional pub food with friendly, yet unobtrusive service. On my visit today there was a real mix of diners. Couples, families, birthday celebrations and groups of friends all of which added to a pleasant atmosphere.
Chose the Ford in because of on line recommendations and we weren't disappointed . The food was excellent and plentiful ( a little too much in one case), and although mine host was rushed off his feet the service and welcome was faultless. Price wise, we ordered 6 mains and drinks and it came to just over£80.00. Not too bad, I've paid more for worse. All in all an enjoyable reunion at the Ford in and we're planning our next one there!
A very friendly greeting met us when we walked into the Ford Inn. The landlord making us feel most welcome. The food was excellent our only complaint being that we couldn't manage it all due to the portion sizes. Having had a starter which was a meal in itself we found that we were unable to do justice to the main course and unfortunately not able to manage a dessert.
Excellent food and service. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at The Ford Inn. The atmosphere in the pub was really good, it is obviously a popular place to eat.
Tasty food and friendly staff. Good place for a family group. A lot of mixed age groups for Saturday lunch when we went. They were happy with two of us sharing one dish, and there were a couple of vegetarian options. Cosy with open fires on a February day. Nice views, and good area for walking.
