Our recent visit to Forest Home was nothing but perfect There were enough other diners to create ambience and our food orders all cooked to order (expect to wait whilst it's being cooked) was presented on hot plates with generous portions and delicious to eat. Our total bill was really good value for money and we will certainly visit again.
Great lunch for group of 4 retirees. Exceeded all expetations as hadn't visited for several years following a not so good experience. Will certainly go again.
lovely atmosphere and lovely food, cooked to preference and good service in these hard times
Good food, good service reasonably priced. Value for money. We will go again.👍
We where sat to near the bar otherwise it was reasonably not there fault the restaurant was full what else could they have done
Really good all round. Impressive sanitation and distancing measures. Efficient, friendly service. Great food. Thanks AB and staff.
Great food, accommodating staff and a fantastic Sunday afternoon vibe.
Very nice indeed. Lovely meal, freshly cooked, delicious. Warm inside and nice atmosphere.
The food & service was excellent, especially the option of smaller portions of the Sunday roast. Table a bit cramped though.
Nice meal service a bit slow slightly pricey though ok
Good quality food if a bit unadventurous. Service was good.
Apauling, staff were rude to other customers when she mentioned there was a problem with her dinner. Other customers were complaining and staff were aggressive in return to these complaints. Our meal was basic, and one was not cooked enough, Worst experience of a night out.
The food was not edible. We ordered 3 small and 1 large roast beef . (The small had half a Yorkshire pud!). The beef, stated medium rare on the menu, was so undercooked it was impossible to cut with a table knife and large parts were were not chewable. The broccoli was solid and cold, some of roast potatoes were burnt black as were the parsnips. When asked by the waiter if everything was alright, we told him the problems but he just said "the beef is medium rare " and then walked away. When paying the bill we repeated our issues to the bartender who just had no interest in our complaint. I did get one of the meals removed from the bill but only through insistance. I will not return.
Fantastic food and staff . Will be going back very soon.
very nice as usual always good food only go up during the day we live close enough to walk up but always good food and nice staff
8 of us came for lunch on the 24th April at 1pm. friendly homely service. hot tasty food served on hot plates. delicious. Half rack of BBQ ribs huge and steak pie delicious. Highly recommend a visit or two!!
We have eaten here before and enjoyed it but not written a review. Today we took my elderly dad to lunch. We all had roast dinners and judging by the clean plates and appreciative noises and comments we all enjoyed it! The desserts remind me of school dinners but so much better! I can highly recommend the treacle sponge and custard whereas my husband is addicted to the profiteers with cream. Staff friendly and efficient. Great value for money. We will definitely be back.
Lovely , hot food - would recommend having a meal here. Thank you Forest Home for your efficient friendly service. We will be back again for another good meal.
we have always had a good meal no complaints keep up the good work
Food was very nice Kids meals where just right amount Kids enjoyed play area while waiting Nice selection of drinks to go with the meals too
Table too close to the bar and therefore very noisy. Difficult for people with hearing aids. Smaller meals should be offered at all times not in restricted hours. Elderly people do not always want large helpings.
The service was good but sadly the food was not, I had the beef curry - the meat was so chewy and the rice was over cooked, our waitress did get us a small refund although that's not why I complained, I saw the chips on the next table and I could tell that they were not home cooked as stated on the menu they were from the freezer! Shame as the food here used to be great, what's happened?
The staff were very welcome, was a very relaxed evening with outstanding food. Is great that dogs are welcome. We will be back with friends and family.
our group was booked for 12.30pm all 9 of us and it was mums birthday meal. Our waitress was very good and polite making sure everything was alright food was hot and very tasty. The only slight thing was my apple crumble wasn't as hot as should have been but all in all very enjoyable experience. We will be returning
Best local restaurant for service , good home cooked food all reasonably priced, lovely atmosphere
Once again , outstanding service, and good old home cooking, nothing better, will be returning definitely
The best food I have ever tasted, nicelly displayed, and reasonably priced, atmosphere very pleasant, as well as polite and pleasant staff, will definitely be going again, again and again, well done Forest Home.
Party of 12, Sunday Lunch, service slow but we were not rushed with the meal. Food was enjoyed by all except that one more difficult person did not have the same veg as everyone else! Was brought the missing veg after quite a while though. Long wait then for clearing and then for a dessert menu, but the desserts when they arrived were delicious. Paying individually was easy and efficiently done. Overall good.
All four of us really enjoyed the hospitality and Irish overtones of the pub and its owner and staff. The food was excellent though one of our company thought that the stew was over salted, however that particular person is picky about salt. Therefor the only disappointment there was for the remainder of the company was that the Stake and ale pie was not on the menu. All in all we were very happy THANK YOU!!!
Very enjoyable evening with a good atmosphere. Food was lovely, service quick. Steaks cooked to perfection, ribs were the best two of the party have ever had!!
Roast dinner was quite nice but disappointed that my large beef dinner was twice the price of a small one but only had a couple of extra roasties and an extra sliver of beef. I'd definitely advise if your hungry order 2 small dinners rather than 1 large.
Very enjoyable lunch and as a personal preference I would have liked the beef to be not so rare but it was tasty and tender. Service very good.
My husband and I had a tasty Valentine's Day meal in this friendly local pub. It was good value and the staff were attentive but not obtrusive. Perfect.
Good food, cheerful staff. We were on table 10 , meal was very good but I thought expensive for a pub meal . We came on a quiz night so very noisy, but, obviously very popular. We will probably go again sometime.
The Forest Home is friendly and comfortable and is a great place to eat and drink. We enjoyed real ale with the Sunday roast. Beef for myself and nut roast for my daughter. Would recommend it.
