If you love French cuisine but not the portion sizes or prices of fine-dining places, then man oh man are you in luck. The Frenchie Bistro’s food is like the good-looking child of haute cuisine and American diner food. From one parent comes duck confit, from the other the ingenuity to present this on a bouncy brioche bun as an irresistible burger, with truffle mayonnaise and duck fat chips the perfect full-circle French-cum-American-cum-Frankified accompaniment. From there the French heritage dominates – deconstructed creme brulee, charcuterie & cheese boards and a fine list of aperitifs, vins and digestifs. These Frenchies are known to market-goers around London (stalls at Southbank, Brick Lane, Broadway and Primrose Hill), but their permanent home in the Artworks Elephant food hall on Elephant Road (right by Elephant & Castle station) is a very cool, kitschy, wine-cavey joint with a bustle, mood and casual-yet-classy hum that just completes the overall experience.
Love it here, I keep coming back! Excellent food and wine.

The atmosphere was very relaxed, the menu was gorgeous and everything we ate was delicious. The duck burger was particularly wonderful, as were the duck fat chips.
