About The Hambletonian
The Hambletonian was a racehorse that once won 18 times out of 19 starts, way back when in the 1790s. Such was the filly’s fame that pubs were named after it, and one such inn was The Hambletonian on the Village Green in Norton. While the original establishment was shut down in the 1930s, a new pub has arisen in the same building – they even found elements of the old structure in the foundations – specialising in British bar classics and pub food favourites with a local flavour. Our main menu, served daily.
We had a late lunch at the Hambletonian, the food was great, good choice of gin and cider, the service was efficient with a friendly atmosphere.
Food was great and served quickly. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. We had the Kilimanjaro parmo which was really good, best I've had there.
Visited again today, just the two of us. Food was exceptional and the team behind the bar very accommodating. Can't wait to be back!
Fantastic service by all of the staff. Food was great quality and delivered just as we requested. Drinks reasonably priced and great choice too. Will certainly be returning.
It was brilliant. The staff were very helpful. We ordered the veggie burger and it was rather tasty, a taste sensation one might say. I would wholeheartedly recommend a stop to this small but perfectly formed pub with great views of Norton duck pond. 10/10
Good food, good service. As it is only a small place so definitely make a reservation. I had the chicken Parmesan which was lovely, with fresh home made chips
Great Christmas parmo. Lovely location, excellent staff. Thoroughly enjoyed the Buck rarebit. Always great to visit. The place is small but great for a meal, drink and chat
Brilliant meal and service! Parmos were the best any of us have had before. Have eaten here on a few occasions before and meals have never disappointed.
Lovely new tiny upstairs pub with views of the village green - fab relaxed atmosphere and lovely friendly & helpful staff. Good food at good prices.
Staff were friendly, the parmo was absolutely delicious, it was so thick and tasty, even the chips were nice, they were homemade. Will definitely return
Quiet meal overlooking the pond in Norton. Service was good and food was satisfying. Worth a visit. Seating arrangement could be better but all in all a pleasant experience.
Family of 4 went for tea. Veg wasn't cooked but they apologised, gave us chips instead (which we were happy with) and halved the food bill. Lovely gin selection
Was definitely nice food and friendly staff but menu fairly limited and was disappointed that dessert menu consisted of 1 pud: told the sticky toffee pudding is yummy
Very disappointing visit. Won't be visiting again. No rose wine, very little beer to choose from as they have had a busy weekend! Have been in a number of times and no rose wine.
