The Hambletonian was a racehorse that once won 18 times out of 19 starts, way back when in the 1790s. Such was the filly’s fame that pubs were named after it, and one such inn was The Hambletonian on the Village Green in Norton. While the original establishment was shut down in the 1930s, a new pub has arisen in the same building – they even found elements of the old structure in the foundations – specialising in British bar classics and pub food favourites with a local flavour. Food was lovely. We were the first ones there at 5pm but iyt soon filled up. There was a nice atmosphere too. Will definitely go back.
Was definitely nice food and friendly staff but menu fairly limited and was disappointed that dessert menu consisted of 1 pud: told the sticky toffee pudding is yummy
Food was great and served quickly. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. We had the Kilimanjaro parmo which was really good, best I've had there.
