The Horseshoe Bar & Restaurant has made a name for itself as an upscale pub with excellent food. Located in South Birmingham’s Hall Green area, this watering hole is more a restaurant than strictly a bar. With an extensive Indian menu alongside a more traditional English food menu, guests can decide whether they feel like having comfort food favorites or perhaps something more exotic to accompany their beer, wine or cocktails.
Achieving a finalist position in the British Curry Awards 2012, Owner Tanveer Handa accepts nothing but the best for his bar and grill. With friendly service and an impressive number of fancy cocktails, Champagnes and wines, guests are left feeling satisfied and excited to try out more. The Horseshoe Bar & Restaurant in Hall Green is a local favourite amongst Birmingham’s spice-loving foodies and British food purists, encouraging them to return again and again.
The menu at Hall Green’s Horseshoe Bar & Restaurant is nothing short of extraordinary, with a massive number of dishes to choose from. With two separate menus joining mapping out an Anglo-Indian culinary cultural exchange, the Chilli and Spice menu and the Great British menu, Birmingham residents always find something new here. Regardless of whether you order the braised lamb shank from the British menu or bhindi masala from the Indian menu, you’re certain to feel impressed by the restaurant’s unique offerings and will be eager to visit again.
Staff were friendly and the food was absolutely amazing would recommend to anyone definatly go there again for a meal wouldn't go anywhere else for an Indian
Brilliant as normal, food was great, service was slower than normal but still very good, I always go back. Thanks for a great evening guys.
The menu is extensive and the food is lovely and freshly prepared. I should give special mention to the helpful staff, who made an excellent (and economical) recommendation about the wine. The outside of the building is not exceptional; however, the internal decor is really nice and contributes to the excellent ambiance.
Beautiful food the best quality ingredients and so fresh - the best Indian food in Birmingham we will definitely be back!!!!!!! The staff are so lovely too.!!!!!
We went to the Horse Shoe bar as a Groupon deal. The staff were very friendly and polite when we arrived. The bar was very nicely decorated, the lay out of the tables gave plenty of space. We had two very nice cocktails as part of the deal and the food was delicious. My only very minor gripe would be the amount of food on the plate, for the cost of a meal there is not a big serving, I like value for money and as a groupon deal we were very happy, however, if we were paying normal prices we would probably go elsewhere. Overall, we had a lovely evening and would return if using an offer deal.
Excellent restaurant with friendly staff and wonderful decor. This is the only restaurant in the locality that suits all tastes. Whilst we prefer Indian dining, grandparents want English cuisine and there is even a Mediterranean menu so we were all happy. The ambience is good too. There isn't anything that I can fault and I shall want to return for many family gatherings. There is even an earlier sitting from 5.00pm for families who have young children who can't last for the popular time of 8pm.
Went with a Groupon... Firstly poor service when trying to book - the gentleman cut me short and never called back. Staff on the day were okay but one real negative was lack of flexibility with options from the menu (despite being within the cost limits of the voucher). As for the food itself: the starters had us thinking that we would be in for a very average meal but actually the mains were nice and a la carte prices are not over the top. All in all I wouldn't choose to go back but also would not have too many qualms if someone else was keen.
Good choice of food- both English and Indian. We had both, but with the Indian check to see what it comes with, as you will only receive the main on it's own, as we found this out. It was to late to order any thing else, as our meal would have been cold waiting for some other I had the Breast of Duck which was very good. I also had a dessert Apple crumble and custard. Very good.
Restaurant had a lovely ambience, however the poppadoms looked like they had come out of a packet not freshly cooked and what resembled mint yoghurt didnt taste to good!! we did let a member of staff know but we were still charged for them even though we hadnt eaten them, and we were charged 2 different prices for the same size bottle of water. We also paid £8.95 for a porn star martini but what came did not resemble anything like -I feel if you are going to charge these prices for cocktails you at least should know how to mix one!!! The stater and main courses were a strange shade of green but were actually very tasty, so not all bad. Dont think we will return.
Not many guests at 1pm so it lacked atmosphere. However the staff were pleasant although seemingly inexperienced, food was excellent and served with hot plates (always a big plus for us!) & good portion sizes. I think the Apple crumble must be freshly cooked as it took ages to arrive - it would be better if they’d told us this, but we’ll worth the wait as mum loved it. Overall good experience but will be better once the staff gain more experience and deliver better service. Can’t fault the food though - delicious!
