That the British love Indian food is no secret. In fact, Indian food is so popular that many of the most popular curries now figure in most Brits’ conception of British food. At London Road’s The India Gate in Forest Hill, the team are keen to coax diners out of their culinary comfort zone with food that blends favourites from India and new ideas from the classic cuisine from Nepal for an inventive look at these much-loved dishes in London.
In their efforts to modernise the British understanding of food from India and beyond, the team at The India Gate in London’s Forest Hill have drawn on influences from Nepalese cooking to breathe new life into Britain’s favourite dishes. Diners are welcome to pick from familiar favourites like chicken korma or tikka tandoori, but for those in the mood to expand their palate, the chef’s specials at this London Road restaurant offer new, inventive dishes that provide a new dimension to curry in the capital.
The India Gate on London Road has a solid reputation for peerless Indian takeaway and delivery in the capital. In fact, the takeaway option has become so popular that the team have installed cameras in the kitchen so that hungry locals can watch the chefs prepare their meals remotely. For London locals to Brockley’s Forest Hill, this is an excellent choice, but we can’t recommend dining in enough to get the full India Gate treatment. There’s great curry and more every day from 5pm-11pm and from 1pm Friday through to Sunday at The India Gate.
