A warm friendly welcome, first class service and absolutely delicious roast lunches. We had beef and lamb and both were great - plenty of tender, tasty meat with lovely gravy. Yummy roast spuds and veg, including cauliflower cheese. The puddings were delicious too. Pub is clean and well presented, with great views over the weir. Can't fault it - it was just right for a Mother's Day lunch. Thank you very much.

The Sunday Roast dinners were flooded with gravey, far too much. The meat wasnt great but the rest was good if it wasnt covered in gravey. My yorkshire had a fly in it. Not the greatest and wont be rushing back.

Over priced for poor quality, we had a roast dinner each, roast potatoes were terrible, hard, small no colour, Yorkshire pudding cold, gravy greesy and paid £12 each for something that was poor

Table was reserved as promised. Service was a bit hit and miss, appeared to have a high number of very young staff, conversation certainly wasn’t on the menu! Having said that the food which was obviously cooked fresh to order was really good. The homemade tomato soup was delicious. The Burgers were excellent and chunky. The Hunters Chicken went down well and the Lamb Madras was superb (although the naan bread was overdone) The setting is interesting with the river adjacent, I can imagine on a warm summers day that the whole place is jumping-certainly seemed plenty of tables outside. Worth another visit, price about average...just over £100 for lunch and drinks for 6?

Lovely Sunday lunch with friends. Even though there was snow on the ground the place was packed and the staff were rushed off their feet as a result Food was excellent and the service good. Shame they never got round to lighting the fire as they were so busy we needed it as people coming in from the garden were obviously born in barns as they never shut the door behind them. Will come again.

Nice staff and nice place. Did leave feeling gutted though as I took my partner for Sunday lunch and they could only accommodate to one of us as we are vegetarian. Some compensation would have been nice.

The pub is situated overlooking the weir and water which is an ideal position especially in the Summer. The staff are friendly and the menu is varied - all of which we have tried is delicious. However, be warned the Jolly Sailor is so popular you may have to be patient in waiting for your food - but it is certainly well worth the wait when it arrives.

Four of us went for a lunchtime meal two had curry and two the game pie. All meals were excellent and it was nice to have an authentic Indian curry. Service was very good and we were well looked after. We will definitely be going again and despite the thunder storm at the time the view across the weir was a lovely backdrop.

Great location, nice food and nice service. An old building with lots of charm, real fires and an amazing location. The weir and the lock are fantastic to watch especially when a riverboat goes in. Mushrooms in cream were delicious, the fish and chips also. Our waiter Jansen was welcoming and helpfull. We had a lovely lunch in a lovely atmosphere. Loved the real fire.
