About The Little Fish Market

There’s a lot going on at The Little Fish Market, an award-winning fish and seafood restaurant in the beautiful Regency-era precinct of Brunswick, on the border of Hove and Brighton and right across Upper Market street from the distinguished performing arts centre of The Old Market. Under the leadership of restaurateur and chef Duncan Ray (Latymer Restaurant, Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck), The Little Fish Market has transformed from a traditional fishmonger into a fine dining establishment that makes use of sustainable produce to create dishes served in an exquisite setting.

Further Information

Gaining accolades from The Good Food Guide and a couple of AA Rosettes for culinary excellence since opening its doors in Brunswick just a few short years ago, The Little Fish Market is undoubtedly one of Brighton and Hove’s premier restaurants, seafood-oriented or otherwise. First impressions are, they say, lasting, and when you first enter the restaurant’s Upper Market Street premises you’ll notice that the walls are lined with maritime-themed artworks, all created by local artists and all for sale. Such decor only adds to the charm of this special venue.

The remit here at Brunswick’s The Little Fish Market is simple. Seating only 20 diners at a time – advance reservations are absolutely essential – chef Duncan Ray and his kitchen team exclusively offer a five-course degustation menu, plus a kaleidoscopic wine list that changes according to season, and of course what the trusted fishermen and seafood suppliers have hauled in that very same day. Every dish is nuanced and minimal in its preparation, allowing essence to prevail over artifice and ensuring that this Brighton and Hove seafood restaurant remains at the top of local gourmet’s charts.

A wonderful experience and delicious food. We also had a bottle of red wine from the Languedoc which, although this broke the convention of having white with fish, was superb. We loved each course and the attention to us in between. One of the gastronomic highlights of our year!

We had such a lovely evening last week. We did not know what to expect and we were bowled over. Each course came and it was superb. I ate my first ever oyster and it was delicious! Our waiter was delightful and made us feel very welcome.

The food was by far the best our group had tasted in Brighton/Hove in a very long time! The wine flight perfectly complemented all the dishes on the tasting menu. The ambiance and excellent service added to the most perfect evening. Thanks guys we'll be back soon!

Amazing food and wine pairing. The fish dishes were delicious and the dessert was standout (I was exptecting it to be a bit of an after thought). The service was great and there was a real sense of personal touch. We will be back.

A very nice evening, the food was delicious and service was very friendly and welcoming. In my view one of the most pleasant restaurants in Brighton. If you like fish I would highly recommend it (and the pork belly was very tasty too) Alfred

Great food and service in a lovely small restaurant. Our third visit and it's always been wonderful. As residents in the area for 29 years we know our local restaurants and we rate it the best in Brighton and Hove. Dr I Cunningham

We went to the little fish market on a Saturday evening, as a foursome, and it was excellent. The food was fantastic and the service was superb, with excellent insight into each dish and what wine should accompany it. Would highly recommend

A really fantastic evening. The service was brilliant: very well-judged, attentive, but without being stuffy. The food was beautiful throughout - the cod was the highlight, but each course was delicious. One of the real culinary assets within Brighton and Hove.

We love this little restaurant - the food was sublime the host was impeccable. The food changes frequently and was a totally different menu to the last time we came - but equally as delicious. We can't wait to return.

One of the best meals I've eaten in Brighton. The 5 courses got better as the evening progressed, starting at light and delicate, ending with full bodied and mind blowing. Would definitely go again, it is worth the price.

Amazing flavours and presentation was so precise, we had the wine flight too which complimented the fabulous dishes really well and they put a candle in my husbands dessert as it was his birthday which was kind of them.

Fantastic service. Outstanding food and wine. A marvellous way to spend an evening celebrating a birthday. The cod with tiny shrimp and the most luxurious mash you will ever eat was particularly out of this world. Thank you!

Excellent food, service and ambience. Five incredible courses, each well thought out, balanced and packed full of flavour. I am gluten free and the restaurant couldn't have been more helpful in catering to this. We will be back!

Charming and intimate venue down a quiet little Brighton side street. Cracking little pub a bit further down the road for a pre-dinner drink. Lovely atmosphere. Delicious and innovative dishes. Friendly and conscientious service. Big thumbs up.
