About The Merry Harriers
Rooted in history, you’ll find no finer example of the traditional British pub than The Merry Harriers of Hambledon. Hambledon is a charming Surrey village just south of Godalming, and on Hambledon Road this pub and restaurant is a firm favourite among locals. There’s a well-stocked bar with real ales and a long wine list, while the food menu takes in the very best of British flavour. Made from fresh, locally-sourced produce, you can nibble on rarebit or goat’s cheese and baked beetroot tartlet, or go to town on a larger plate of fish pie, beer battered cod and chips, or hand-carved ham with eggs. When in Hambledon, choose The Merry Harriers.

We visited the pub on a Sunday lunch time. After 30 minutes waiting for our food we made inquiries and just got a generic 'I'll follow it up' but we were not told so after a further 15 minute wait I finally got a response - we were behind a group of 16 who had pre-ordered. The pub apologised and said we should have been told of the delay - nothing complimentary was offered. When the food did arrive it was very good [pork]. although the beef was a little chewy. Would I return - yes but service needs attention especially at £15.50 a head for roast.
Nice country pub, mix and match wood furniture and log burner. Polite staff. Nice wines. Woefully let down by the food. Burger was processed in a bun that was chewy. Chips were tough. (imagine re-heating yesterdays). Fish in batter was very greasy. I had a piece of metallic paper the size of my thumb in my burger that I presented to the waitress. I received a 'lightweight apology - nothing more. I don't normally post bad press, however, this pub really needs to sort out its kitchen!
We had risotto and a cheese plate. The staff were very friendly. The billing was a little traumatic. Three attempts to get it right. Llamas in the field lovely. Steve the cat was adorable. I would recommend the pub.
So good to find an independent traditional pub. Cosy and friendly. I had the delicious Fish Pie and my husband had the Steak and Kidney pudding which he loved.
Comprehensive menu and good range of beers. Tasty food and excellent service. The lovely garden with a climbing frame makes it an ideal family venue.
