Romsey’s The Old House at Home is everything you could hope for in a comfortable country restaurant. Dating back to the 17th century, the building that houses this Southampton restaurant is a historic beauty that’s worth the visit all on its own. The food takes the experience to another level – think classic British dishes like hand-carved honey roasted ham, smoked haddock and salmon fishcakes, and steak and red wine pie. The Old House at Home also offers veg-friendly items like homemade mushroom, thyme and chestnut pie as well as a number of specials that change regularly. You’re going to love this cosy gastropub on Love Lane. Book to snag a table.

Get a table before they're gone
Having booked a table on line we were told when we got there at 1pm there was a 40 minute wait for food. I explained we could not wait that long in a lunch break and to cancel our table reservation. Then told we had no table reserved anyway. I explained I had booked via your web site to be told that's nothing to do with them now. New owners. VERY RUDE OWNER. The place was over half empty yet still the long wait for food. I have used this place for business lunches for 20 years. This is by far the worst owner I have ever come across here. Give it a miss.
Recommend as the best pub in Romsey by none other than the town manager and he was right!
The smoked haddock on samphire with a poached duck egg and hollandaise was the best English pub dish I’ve ever had. The entire experience was magical.
