Romsey’s The Old House at Home is everything you could hope for in a comfortable country restaurant. Dating back to the 17th century, the building that houses this Southampton restaurant is a historic beauty that’s worth the visit all on its own. The food takes the experience to another level – think classic British dishes like hand-carved honey roasted ham, smoked haddock and salmon fishcakes, and steak and red wine pie. The Old House at Home also offers veg-friendly items like homemade mushroom, thyme and chestnut pie as well as a number of specials that change regularly. You’re going to love this cosy gastropub on Love Lane. Book to snag a table.
I had the pleasure of dining here for lunch with my aunt and the food was impeccable, as well as a fabulous atmosphere, much like a country pub with a beautiful courtyard with plenty of seating. The staff were friendly and accommodating and offered great service. I enjoyed a Cornish blush cider which I've never tried before and for lunch had a the most delicious tasting bacon, brie and recurrent jelly baguette I've ever come across. My aunt had lasagne and she enjoyed it very much. I would certainly visit again, both for drinks and food.
My husband and I and two friends very much enjoyed lunch at the Old House at Home. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food was good and reasonably priced.
We had good service and a good choice of menu and specials. The food was nice, definitely go there again. We had a quiet table round the side which helped the atmosphere.
