The Olive Tree

It said it was flooded and was going to open for valentine's Day as it's reopening date. Then I received a text message less than a week before the day saying that the drying out of the restaurant had been underestimated and that they'll be opening at least two weeks later than their original stated date. This left us with little choice as to where to eat for valentine's Day.

We were looking for somewhere to have Christmas dinner without the fuss and The Olive Tree certainly came up trumps ! Having never been to York before we took a chance on somewhere we didn't know and went solely on the reviews. And I'm very happy to say we had a fabulous time. The food was exceptional and the staff went beyond 'normal' service. We would highly recommend this restaurant for quality of food, service and value for money.

Warm and friendly welcome, wonderful wild mushrooms for starters and all our main courses were first class. Music got a little loud though it is Christmas!

Nice food, tasty and fresh. Service was good, nice and quick, but had to wait far too long for the bill to come. Would happily go back.

The food took a little while to get to us, but the staff were polite and friendly, the atmosphere was nice and when it did arrive the food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced.

Nice warm welcome when we arrived, all staff were very friendly and although the restaurant was very busy the service was quick and efficient. The food was excellent and well presented.

A lovely little restaurant with great views of the Clifford Tower. A good range or food and drink, and the staff were were charming and provided good service.
