The Potting Shed is blooming in Beverley, meaning it’s a very popular bar and restaurant where you’ll find plenty of garden-themed puns alongside great food and drink. Or, to put it in The Potting Shed’s own words, a place where you can be fed and watered in style. The menu consists of gourmet pizzas, burgers and The Shed’s own take on some internationally-inspired classics. You’ve then got the well-stocked bar that’s bursting with craft beer and nice wines. You’ll find The Potting Shed right on Flemingate – we know you’re gonna dig it.
Whether you’re sitting inside amongst the cool, earthy decor of The Potting Shed’s main dining space, outside on the sun terrace or inside one of the quirky outdoor potting sheds (yes, they’re actual sheds), you’re guaranteed a thoroughly enjoyable time. On Beverley’s Flemingate, this bar and restaurant is one that never fails to bring a smile to your face, and that’s before you’ve even got to the food and drink on offer. Everything on the menu is made fresh to order using produce that’s local and delicious – a shed load of goodness.
We’ve already given you a barebones run through of what you can expect from the menu, so, to get down to specifics, The Gnomes Revenge is one our favourites, consisting of a beef patty, chicken breast topped with Sicilian Ndjura sausage, bacon, cheese and homemade onion rings. The Yorkshire Burger, too, is a great choice, subbing bread for Yorkshire puddings… On the pizza front you’ll find some that are classically-topped as well as some a little more experimental, or, you know, just stick to a traditional plate of fish and chips. The centre of Beverley goes wild for The Potting Shed – go gnome or go home!
Really good food and very helpful staff nothing was too much trouble they found us a quieter table because we were with friends we hadn't seen for a tear so wanted to talk
Great service , great food , really lovely place , always enjoy coming here as has a great atmosphere and cracking entertainment. 5 star service
Great place. Fantastic food. Excellent service. Will be back! A special thanks to Liz for the service she gave us. She is a star and an asset to the team.
Really good, food was lovely - waitresses were friendly. It was a busy lunch service but we didn’t feel rushed. Even if your 18 plus kids are with parents - take ID cos you won’t get served alcohol without it.
Booked for a meal, televisions were on, as well as a live singer (one, or the other would be preferable), speakers were very loud, not ideal for eating in company (unless you only play with mobile phones and tablets while eating, then you wouldn't need it quieter for conversation). The food was generally OK, the waitress lovely (Nicky). Could improve by warming plates to give the food a chance to stay warm while eating it. The "bread" had been lightly toasted - possibly to try and disguise old bread? - menu should state either bread, or toast, this was neither. One of the meals was undercooked but the waitress was happy to replace it with a cooked version. Great venue, polite staff. I'm sure if you are younger and don't mind it loud you would have a good time, not a place to relax and eat with good conversation.
We went on the Halloween kids night so a little out of the ordinary. Unfortunately there wasn't enough staff to meet demand. Resulting in long waits for order to be taken, food to come (one of our party was an extra 20 mins wait to everyone else) etc. However........food was all good, nice choice on children's menu. We received any apology for inconvenience re long wait and discount on bill. The concept of the evening was great and the kids enjoyed watching a movie with popcorn outside. Would go back as I've had much better service in the past from here but probably not to another event night.
we had a table booked for 5.45 on sunday and we arrived early so understandably we waited for our table place was very busy and we was seated at about 5.30 ordered food and 10 mins later was told would be 1 hour wait for food 70 mins later I asked at bar how long for food and was told another 20 minutes we had 2 small children so I asked if theres could be done earlier ,food came 10 mins later and daughters pizza was like cardboard and had been cooked and then reheated told waitress and they replaced with other pizza obviously small delay for food again .overall it spoiled occasion as was a treat for daughter for passing piano exam ,me and my wife have been on 5 or 6 occasions for food before hence why we came again but think it will be along time before we try again had booked for teatime new years eve but think will make other arrangements as wouldn't want to be in same predicament ,hope this dosent sound like whinging but we have own business so know feedback can be useful (staff seemed overrun with amount of people in no one person to blame individually
The food was really good and the member of staff serving us was fantastic, however we felt that the live band were a little too loud when we are trying to chat and have a meal and the food took a long time to arrive, despite us pre ordering. We had also emailed earlier in the day in regards to some people dropping out, however they still had the table set up for 9, when there were just 5 and I had to reconfirm, who's meals we did not need, despite already communicating this earlier in the day.
The potting shed was very busy and loud. This was our first visit and we were celebrating my partners birthday so don't think this was the right venue for us tonight. It was very difficult to have a conversation, with the hustle and bustle around us and the background music and general noise of people talking and laughing. We were very surprised that there were no choice of starters or puddings. The main courses were mainly limited to burgers and pizzas. The burgers we had were very nice and service was very good.
The actual venue is great with a very welcoming atmosphere and pleasant staff. The table was ready on time for our reservation and we soon had drinks served. The menu is different , but in an interesting way. The food was soon served and very well presented. The only problem that it was served on cold plates, so the food was soon cold. Two of our party of 5 wanted deserts, but none available.
