The Reach Bar & Kitchen’s mission is clear, if somewhat understated. This rather British restaurant, found in the Grade II listed Gallions Hotel along Albert Basin Way (at the Gallions Point end of the Royal Albert Dock), offers a little bit of what you like. Do they ever – what we like is their spiffingly good food, ranging from such simple breakfast fare as a humble bacon or sausage roll right through to seasonal feasts of sausage and mash and classic fish and chips with mushy peas. A welcome contribution to the boom times down London’s Docklands, one mustn’t forget the The Reach’s well-stocked bar.
Kitchen closed for 2/3 wks for refurbishment :( ... but they did ring me straight away to inform me, after I'd made online booking. Been here couple of times before, and it's lovely - as are the staff!
Excellent food, service and ambience ...... staff are really lovely here! Food is cooked to perfection .... just such a lovely atmosphere in this place.
A highlight of the week down London’s Docklands is The Reach Bar & Kitchen’s ever-popular Thursday barbecue night. With Jamaican jerk chicken, BBQ ribs, lemon and thyme chicken wings, steaks, seafood and sausages smoking away on the open terrace fronting Albert Basin Way, this eatery in the Royal Albert Dock’s Gallions Hotel packs out with hungry punters. And that’s just Thursday. Diners and drinkers are twigging to The Reach’s distinctive offering, centred on British cuisine with a sprinkling of international flair for good measure.
The Reach Bar & Kitchen’s lunchtime menu focuses on gourmet sandwiches served up in baguettes, wraps or sourdough and light bites. We get more than a little bit of what we want at the Royal Albert Dock when dinner rolls around. Come evening, the Gallions Hotel down Albert Basin Way ratchets up the kitchen action, serving tapas alongside the fine selection of ale and wine, and hearty main meals, too. Those dreaming of the open seas as they wander round London’s overhauled Docklands are advised to opt for the Atlantic prawns to start, then head east for some spicy Asian noodles, and come ashore with a crepe suzette or The Reach’s fine French and English cheeseboard.
