About The Riccarton Inn Pub and Dining

On the outskirts of the ancient city of Edinburgh lies a pub with a tendency towards tradition itself. The Riccarton Arms on Lanark Road in Currie has stood in its place for over two hundred years, and they continue to offer all the staples of Scottish bars: ales, wines and superb menu. If you head over to their location towards the south of the city, you’ll be sure of a warm welcome – in fact, they have two real fires – and home-cooked pub food.

Further Information

The Riccarton Inn is the sort of pub of which Edinburgh is rightly proud: home-cooked food, an extensive selection of drinks and a warm welcome. The atmosphere is cosy regardless of the weather – while there is outdoor seating, it’s probably the two roaring coal fires that you’ll be needing knowing the Scottish climate – so when you arrive at their address in Lanark Road in Currie, expect to take a seat at the bar and settle right in.

The bar is packed with real ales – locally-sourced from Caledonian Brewery – as well as four lagers, cocktails, a wine list and even draft prosecco. Their menu is classically Scottish: haggis, cullen skink, pies and fish and chips are all present, as well as a wider range of bar favourites, such as burgers, steaks and cajun chicken. Mosey on over to Lanark Road in Currie for a fantastic pub meal – book in advance to guarantee a table.

Absolutely lovely Xmas Lunch meal. Soup, salmon and rum & raisin cheesecake with ginger sorbet was all just out if this world. Love the cozy bistro/pub feel of the place. Definitely recommend and will be back.

So good, I've booked to go back. We had a table for five and we all enjoyed our food. Staff interaction was very good and service faultless.

Good food and great service. All four of us had a different dish and were satisfied. Steak cooked perfectly, burgers all good especially the beef and haggis one.

Booked a table for 2 at 6pm and we arrived bang on time. We were shown to our table straight away with no fuss. The bar was packed and very lively, but the adjacent restaurant area was peaceful but with a friendly buzz. It is intimate but also private and very comfortable and conversation is easily heard. In spite of how busy the bar and restaurant were, the service was slick and perfectly timed. The menu was good and the food was excellent. Prices were very reasonable. Overall, it isn't hard to see why the Riccarton Inn is busy. Great staff, great food and great atmosphere. I'd recommend to anyone.

Hadn't been for months. Came as a recommendation from a family member who had been a few weeks ago. We usually go to the sister pub Kinleith Mill and we have been on and off over the past few years but have tired of their menu...it just never changes . Our server Julie was very attentive and patient as the menu was so good we couldn't decide. Starters we're v.good and mains were huge...especially the fish & chips...Food was served hot and we didn't have long to wait. Will defiantly recommend and return .

A comfortable overnight stay. Thankful for the fan heater provided in the bedroom as it was a bit on the cold side in the room to begin with but soon warmed up. Really lovely meal in the evening with good service. I gave a 5 rating because in the morning the breakfast service wasn't so good although once our order for a cooked breakfast was finally taken it was delicious when it arrrived, as was the coffee. I would definitely stay again at the Riccarton Inn as it is excellent value for money.

We've driven past this place so many times and didn't know what we were missing! We both had the roast of the day (beef) which was e. Ellen's and served with all the trimmings you would expect. The veg were nice and fresh and not overlooked and two types of potatoes. I would certainly recommend the Ticcarton Inn and we will be back. Thank you.

We thoroughly enjoyed lunch at The Riccarton Inn, the food was fantastic, all five of us really enjoyed our meals, most of us having three courses, each one absolutely delicious, the macaroni and cheese was amazing, as was the chocolate nemesis!!! The staff were very attentive and friendly too, we will definitely be back.

This was our first visit. We enjoyed our meals which were to a high standard, and can also confirm that the service received was very good. We will add this to our personal list of favoured pub restaurants in and around Edinburgh.
