Great food. Good menu. Blonde serving girl was excellent. Rachel forgot to serve us one of our drinks but they were extremely busy. Chicken nuggets were way too greasy, tempura batter would be better if they cant do breadcrumbs. Nice wine (Malbec), good atmosphere. Obviously very popular as they were turning people away.

Went for Sunday lunch but unfortunately it wasn’t on due to the chef being on holiday! There was a menu on of the usual stuff that can be rustled up out of a freezer or fried, the nice lady who served us did tell us straight away about this but as we booked online it might be a good idea in future if this information is shared on the website before people trek out to Weaverthorpe

Super friendly staff who held our table for us when we arrived late! Lovely food, freshly cooked and waiting staff who were attentive but left you alone to chat. Excellent value for money and a lovely car journey along twisting, mostly empty country roads.

Another great evening at The Star at Weaverthorpe. Our visit this time was to take our visiting friends and to also try the new season menu. The latter is varied and interesting with, on Wednesday nights, curry available as well as the al-a-carte. To go with the new menu is a new wine list - with almost all of the wines available by the glass The food is always freshly cooked and, as a consequence, waiting time can be just a little longer than one would usually expect. That said, when the plates do arrive the dishes are cooked to perfection and piping hot. Our hosts, Rachel and Julien, were as attentive as ever - as are all the other staff. Great evening, great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Delicious food (dinner and breakfast) and great service. Lovely comfortable accommodation - a home from home environment in a spacious, beautifully decorated suite. Hosts should be proud of what they have accomplished with the renovations.

Last Saturday evening my wife and I and two friends visited the Star Inn. We had a fabulous meal of pizzas and burgers plus one baked aubergine. Fabulous!! The food was tasty, piping hot and quickly served - bearing in mind that all the dishes were made to order from scratch. Great. We will be back. MARTIN

We were a party of six adults booked in at 14.30 for Sunday lunch. Julien duly served us with drinks followed quickly by taking our order. A range of starters - from tomato soup (which a spoon could be stood up) to pate and cured meats arrived - super! Just got the taste buds going. Our mains covered roasts of beef, lamb and pork plus a salmon filet - together with all the trimmings. The meats were superbly cooked, with plenty on the plate, and lots of flavour. We could have pushed for desserts but would probably have made ourselves slightly uncomfortable!! Service was good and we all had thoroughly enjoyable Sunday lunch. Definitely will be returning.

Friday evening at The Star is lively and buzzing. We are a party of four and our reserved table was ready for us. We are shown straight to it. Our waitress returns to take our aperitif orders - which are quickly fulfilled. Most tables are filled with diners. We know that all hot food is freshly cooked so there is a slight delay between our food order being taken and actually arriving in front of us. That said when our food does arrive it is hot and delicious. There is a fairly extensive range of wines with quite a few available by the glass. By the time we finish our main course we are all replete, with no room for any puds. Shame! This is a place which, because of its popularity (especially on Fridays and weekends), you need to reserve a table. I would be surprised if you are disappointed with either the fare you are presented with your hosts!
