Food good however the overall experience was very poor - we were a party of six and were squeezed onto a table designed for 4 which could only be reached by disturbing other diners and moving chairs. One of our party had to perch on the corner while someone else sat at an angle at the end - quite unsatisfactory.

The food was great but service on this occasion not so good. We were in the pub for an hour before we had anything to eat. The service was very busy.

This is fairly close to home which is good; nice food, good service - will probably go again - probably try a lunch time visit.

Booked for 2:15pm, and were the only people being served as the other party were just leaving. Whilst the two staff were pleasant enough, the service was very slow, the food, despite going there before and being impressed, was not great. We heard both staff talking about their various colds sneezing which isn't so nice in the hospitality industry either. Overall sadly disappointed.

Really great food and friendly helpful staff and a great seasonal atmosphere. I thoroughly recommend this small pub. Excellent selection of real ales as well.

It's always a pleasure eating in the Wheel. Matt's such a friendly and welcoming host and an excellent chef. The food we ate yesterday was superb all four of us agreed. We will be back - guaranteed!

Delicious food and really lovely, friendly, helpful staff. They did however struggle a bit because they were so busy -we were told there would be a half hour wait for puddings, so decided against. Would still very much recommend, and looking forward to going back when it is a bit less busy!

Another disappointing Sunday lunch at the Wheel. Window table booked, but tried to seat us where you are constantly being bumped by other diners going to their table and waitresses. Ordered drinks; Peroni became a cider. Vegetables served cold ( preprepared and had missed the microwave) Starters good and desert, but main Sunday roast course poor; roast potatoes reheated and dry, gravy too strong a flavour and stone cold cauliflower cheese. Ordered post dinner port, but wrong port served. No deduction from bill nor words of concern. Whole experience indicated chaos. Such a shame.

Enjoyed our food & staff friendly. It's a very small pub & was very busy so very HOT & a little hectic at times especially when people waiting around the bar side of restaurant section.

The food was excellent. It's a shame that the decor showed signs of neglect (silverware uncleaned etc). There was no lit fire even though it was cold although the landlord did light it when asked. If the whole feeling of the place was improved, this would in turn ramp up the ambience which would increase the number of customers, and this pub could be a very popular and successful venture. Common landlord, your food is excellent, but it needs the whole package to be successful!

First visit to this pub in 25 years. Externally it hasn't changed a great deal. A nice homely village pub with log fires. Food was excellent, enjoyed by all in our party. Well cooked with a fresh and interesting choice of veg to compliment 3 Sunday roasts. Rest of the menu looked interesting enough for us to consider a return visit sometime soon.

Best steak in the county, the other food is awesome as well. Super pub for a couple of pints or a high end pub meal. Good wine list, collection of spirits and stickies. Always great service from Matt and the team.

We had a lovely meal in a nice atmosphere. It was a cold evening and the pub was a little cool but otherwise we had a really nice time.

Cramped table, choice on menu not available but it took 15 minutes after ordering to find out, roast potatoes very poor and over cooked. Vegetables uninteresting and poorly cooked.

Always a great atmosphere and friendly service. The food is wonderful and always coked to perfection. I just wish they would change their knives. I don't know if it is just me, but they are very difficult to hold.

Unfortunately the service was very slow. The starters were lovely but we were very disappointed with two of the four main meals we had. Considering the price of the meals we had expected better.

Great food and good service....we had 2 Yorkie puds for Sunday lunch but you only need 1 as they are enormous! Just busy enough without it being overcrowded.

Visited The Wheel for Sunday lunch. Roast beef was tasty but a little chewy. Vegetables beautifully cooked and presented. Roast potatoes rather firm and not crispy enough for my liking. Overall, a pleasant meal if a little overpriced at £13.95. The dining area was full and the atmosphere was buzzing.

It was a wonderful meal in a wonderful setting. A little gem to have found in a pretty village. The food was restaurant standard and we were made to few very welcome.

Not up to the usual standard for The Wheel! We had the Venison Casserole which was not good some of the meat was undercooked and some was okay. However the staff were very good and friendly. I think they were having a problem with the chef that evening, so perhaps just a one off bad evening.

Fantastic ! Dickies Steaks were perfectly cooked as was the turbo and cod risotto. The service was outstanding... Our waitress was single handedly running the restaurant and was a credit to the Wheel nothing was too much trouble. We'll be back soon

Rather cold and uninviting with very slow service (waited for an hour for our main course). Meal was average at best with unpleasant dry bread bun for the beefburger and overcooked chips. Staff helpful and friendly but not coping with the demand.

As always food was and service was excellent. Also catered without any problem for a fussy child and a vegetarian. Couldn't resist the desserts which were large portions.

Unpretentious, comfortable and friendly country pub. Three good ales on pumps plus a guest cider. I liked that the pub maintains a bar alongside the restaurant style for the rest of the pub. Excellent food showcasing locally sourced food - a very good choice of game. A blazing real fire to make the place cosy and welcoming on a cold Saturday afternoon!
