About Udon Cafe

With its refined, minimalistic interior and relaying ambience, Udon Cafe provides Finchley diners with an authentic Japanese experience, serving up traditional Japanese dishes with a focus on fresh fish and seafood. From sushi and sashimi to bibimbap, grilled meat and noodle dishes, all of the Japanese favourites feature on the menu here. We recommend the chicken katsu curry while seafood lovers will be delighted with the sushi and sashimi bento boxes, and plenty of vegetarian options feature on the extensive menu too like the vegetable bibimbap (steamed rice with kimchi, a fried egg and vegetables served in a hot stone bowl). Located on Finchley Road, Udon Cafe is a hotspot for Japanese cuisine loving foodies of North London. To be sure of snagging a table, make a reservation in advance!

Went to Udon for dinner again last night - as usual, the food was very good (Bibimbap/Bulgogi), however the staff left much to be desired. They all seem very nice, but unfortunately, appear a bit clueless. Our food arrived at different times which meant dishes got cold before my partner and I could begin our meal. Also whenever we asked for anything, we had to repeat our requests to different staff. Having been to Udon dozens of times, this was unfortunately one of the few times we left slightly frustrated.

Our favourite local restaurant. The Japanese and Korean dishes are generally excellent, some of the others less so. Whilst some of the waiting staff are a bit lack lustre, everything always runs smoothly when 'Ken', the tall Chinese waiter is around. He remembers our 'special' table and our preferred dishes. Highly recommend!
