Urban Haandi on Harrow’s Streatfield Road is at once an excellent restaurant, serving fragrant and delectable dishes from northern Indian and beyond and a chic, innovative cocktail bar and function space for diners, party goers and drinkers from across London. The food might be a happy amalgam of 5000 years of Indian history and culture, but the restaurant itself is decidedly modern, and encourages diners to stop, stay and sip a cocktail or two before settling up.
Diners at Harrow’s Urban Haandi are heading there for their innovative take on northern Indian food and exquisite cocktails on Streatfield Road. There’s great curries and lesser-known delights aplenty here, and diners are rewarded for their trip out to Harrow with warm service to boot. The restaurant takes its name from handi a traditional piece of north Indian cooking equipment – a large, open mouthed pot used in the preparation of curries. This commitment to time-honoured traditions is at the heart of the food here too: expect classic dishes, prepared fresh daily.
Of course, Urban Haandi isn’t only about tradition. In fact, their MO is there in the name, the Haandi, representing the traditions that underpin their menu, and Urban, which represents their undeniably modern approach best seen from their cocktail lounge. Here guests are encouraged to pick from a menu of carefully considered cocktails shaken and stirred together by the Harrow team’s expert mixologists. For those with a big party to plan, a Christening to celebrate or any other kind of big event, the capable team on London’s Streatfield Road are experienced in helping guests throw memorable parties with the great food and drink from which they built their reputation.
Excellent food, friendly service. Little waiting time. All dishes are very well prepared and are flavour delicious. If you love authentic Indian food and can't afford to have a bad stomach the next day, then this is your restaurant.
Food Was brilliant and the service was great. The atmosphere is brilliant for couples and for large families. The owner personally came and asked us if we where having fun and if the food was good.
The food was really good and tasty however the staff who seemed to be new were quite slow and did not speak good enough English to understand basic questions.
Decent service and the food was good but the Live music too loud though and we couldnt hear each other talk. Overall gd experience would go again
Food was great. Service was okay. Music was nice but would have preferred some fast tracks to life the mood and get more people dancing.
